Classical Music Recommendations (That Nobody Asked For)
Second Suite in F (Gustav Holst)- 4 movements, but not very long. Tons of euphonium and trumpet solos, 4th movement is very sea shanty like
Jupiter (Gustav Holst)- euphoric, gives me exploration vibes. Overall very beautiful
October (Eric Whitacre)- oh my god chills. King of dissonance. Probably my favorite piece. Amazing brass chords and woodwind moments. Slow tempo (rubato/free tempo. No really set tempo throughout the piece)
Sinfonia Noblissima (Robert Jager)- fast tempo is very satisfying (kinda chaotic), slow part is where it really gets good though
Overature to Candide (Leonard Bernstein)- once again, very chaotic (more than Sinfonia Noblissima tho). Melodic part gives me ballroom dance with enemy when you’re a spy and they’re the target vibes
Xerxes (John Mackey)- if you thought Candide and Sinfonia was chaotic, honey buckle up. Very appropriate name for this song
Sevens (Samuel Hazo)- very energetic (wacky time signature tho, transitioning from 11/16 to like 7/16, but eventually going back to 4/4). Absolute banger
Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral (Richard Wagner)- what classical music list is complete without this piece? Impact moment hits vvv hard bc everything’s very quiet. Very very satisfying chords used
