Beautiful, absolutely beautiful fic about freedom + the cost of freedom. It’s the most beautiful fic I read this year. Less of a celebration and more of a promise.

This definitely isn’t about the prose/plot/characterizations. It’s a pretty straightforward fic which has a really simple premise and executes it beautifully with simple prose and characterizations. But it’s also the best fic I personally read this year so far. Maybe it’s because the fic came at the right time? It’s like watching Forrest Gump for the first time. I can read the angstiest/darkest fics w/o crying. But this fic got me crying.

They might have made heroines and pirates of themselves, but it was only so that the next generations would not have to. She would write a book, so that they wouldn't forget. It wouldn't happen again, not in their time, not in the times that came after their time. That was that.
