Whitebeard: sees right through you and laughs fondly, then gives in to whatever you want (he loves spoiling you)
Marco: is never fooled, and will only relent if he's tired or overwhelmed by his work (you give up quickly, he's no fun compared to the others)
Ace: falls for it so easily, he hates to see you upset and is clueless when it comes to manipulation (you sometimes feel a little bad for tricking him)
Jozu: is confused because he knows you're not genuinely upset, but gives in because he doesn't like to see you cry
Thatch: falls for it every time and always gives you the most dramatic reactions, he's the most fun to mess with and he never makes you feel bad for tricking him
Vista: knows you're playing with him (most of the time, you can fool him if you try hard enough) and will sometimes tease you a little before giving in, too happy to see your sad pout morph into a pretty smile
Blamenco: laughs at your antics and will placate you with some strange trinket or little gift he keeps in his many magical pockets (you can't trick him, but you'll still get a little something from him)
Rakuyo: 50/50, he's either completely fooled or calls you out on your lies with a loud cackle
Namur: does not understand your strange displays of fake emotions and will call someone else for reinforcement (if he gets Marco you're getting scolded, if he gets Thatch or Ace you're getting your way)
Blenheim: it depends what you're crying for, he tries to be reasonable and not spoil you as badly as the others, but he can't really resist your teary eyes and pouty lips
Curiel: so easy it's almost too easy, he caves in immediately and is one of the reasons Blenheim tries to be more stern
Kingdew: he doesn't understand what there is to cry about, and your little show doesn't work very well on him so you give up after a few disappointing attempts
Haruta: becomes very uncomfortable when you start crying, and it became more fun to try to make him cringe rather than try to get your way
Atmos: chuckles at your little show because his younger brothers tried that on him many times before, and you're no better than them (he thinks you're very cute so he will still spoil you, don't worry, he'll just make you work extra hard for it)
Jiru: frazzled and worried he'll get in trouble for making you cry, so he tries to remedy the tears immediately, which makes him both an easy and fun target
Fossa: is never fooled but always gives in with a heavy sigh, then gently reprimands you for trying to trick him like that (which Blenheim always tells him is pointless, since Fossa keeps rewarding your behavior)
Izou: unsurprisingly, he is never fooled, no matter how genuine you try to appear, and unlike Fossa he doesn't reward your attempts and will wait until you calm down to respond to your request
Roger: falls for it soooo easily, despite Rayleigh's assurances that you're tricking him, but will try to comfort you instead of giving you what you want
Rayleigh: chastises you and refuses to give in, so you don't often try that trick on him unless Roger is nearby
Gabban: laughs at you and then gives you tips to put on a better show and be more convincing (and will probably give you whatever it is you came crying for, he doesn't care either way)
Shanks: is (almost) never fooled by you, but can't resist spoiling you despite Beckman's admonishments (sometimes you really do fool him, and his crew will laugh at him for a while)
Beckman: responds with tired silence and tries to patiently lecture you, but his efforts are thwarted by his captain (and in the end he loves the smile you give him when you get your way)
Buggy: panics and gives you random things before finally listening to you and giving you what you wanted (you'll leave with an extra carnival plushie, balloons, candy, coins, whatever was in his pockets, and what you initially wanted)
Mihawk: your attempt to fool him is endearing, and he might let you work for a bit before either caving in or denying your demands (it's always worth a shot, you never know what mood he'll be in)
Crocodile: hates it when you cry and will throw expensive things at you to get you to stop, he doesn't really care if you're genuine or not, he just wants you to stop

Vista
Unfortunately for him, your grumpy old man of a cat is extremely territorial and protective of you. He stares at Vista when you spend time together, sitting just behind the man, right out of his line of sight, and he doesn’t like it when your boyfriend gets too handsy with you.
Angry yowls and hisses have interrupted more than one heated make-out session, and you’ve been forced to lock your cat out of the bedroom whenever you and Vista have sex. The fierce little creature has bitten and scratched Vista’s shins and back one too many times for his taste.
But Vista loves the angry old thing no matter what, and he knows how much that cat means to you. He’ll feed him if you’re away, will keep his water bowl clean and filled, and will take care of the litter box while your cat judges from afar.
Your grumpy cat likes to be as close to you as possible when you’re all watching a movie, and he will give Vista the stink eye when the man tries to cuddle with you. But when your cat is lost in all the pets and love you give him, if Vista adds his hand to the mix, the grumpy little man won’t notice and will actually quite enjoy the large and warm hand petting him. Until he realizes who’s hand it is.
After months of patiently trying to get on his good side, when Vista is finally rewarded with a slow blink and maybe even some headbutts, he will be very proud and happy. The bedroom door still needs to be locked during sex, but Vista doesn’t mind, he understands the little creature’s jealousy.
Thatch
Obviously, he provides home-made meals and raw diet and the best things any cat could ever get. Thatch uses dirty tricks (food and treats) to win your skittish little cat over, and it works perfectly. You have to step in and tell Thatch to watch the portions when your little baby gains too much weight, and the chef will immediately fix the meals he makes. Your cat gets everything she needs, and the best quality she can get, too.
Your cat warms up to Thatch very quickly thanks to the excellent food and the chef’s confident and warm demeanor. She loves snuggling up to him, and will sometimes push you aside to nestle herself against Thatch’s side. She likes to roll up next to his pillow at night, and purrs quietly against his head.
His heavy and skilled pets are very much appreciated by your little cat, as is grooming time. Thatch is very good with a hairbrush, and your kitty will request scratches and grooming often, sometimes headbutting Thatch’s comb for some extra loving. Thanks to his efforts, her coat looks shinier and softer than ever.
Thatch has no idea how to play with a cat, and gets pretty confused when she swats at his hair or tries to catch his legs. He’s scared he’ll kick her! Even once you’ve explained how she likes to use her toys, Thatch still finds it a little awkward, and can’t quite get the hang of it. He’s great for cuddles, but cat playtime is a skill he struggles to develop.
Marco
He’s very good with cats, unsurprisingly. Marco is calm and playful, and he knows when to stop teasing your kitty. Playtime was actually what brought them close the fastest. Marco quickly understood your cat’s favorite games and spent many afternoons and early mornings indulging the furry creature, until he was trusted a second caretaker.
Marco always remembers food, water, and litter, makes sure your cat’s toys are where they are supposed to be, and always has the little creature’s safety in mind. He never leaves food out, takes care that all plastic and paper bags are stored, vacuums frequently…
The doctor cares for your cat whenever you’re busy, and is very good and trimming his sharp little claws without too much hassle. Marco even tried to give the poor thing a bath, though he was less successful there…
Izou
The best cat person around. He is quiet, careful, patient, measured, and respects boundaries. Most importantly, Izou knows how to show affection from afar, with his demeanor and tone of voice, and your fat cats respond very well to his presence. From the start, they’ve been very welcoming and positive about Izou’s presence, and he’s never given them reason to doubt him.
You’re the one spoiling your babies with food, so despite Izou’s best efforts to enforce a diet, no such thing will happen. The plump and happy creatures will remain plump and happy, and the best Izou can do is buy lower calorie food.
He prefers to spoil your pets with handmade toys, collars, and carious accessories, including dresses and sweaters and adorable matching hats. Your holiday cards always look adorable, the four of you in perfectly tailored matching outfits.
Since Izou is such a calm and stabilizing presence, he often finds himself with a lap full of fat, purring kitties. Whenever you all cuddle together, the cats will press themselves as close to you as possible, or weasel their way in between you and Izou for extra cozy cuddles.
Corazon
Your poor little girl really did her best with Corazon, but he’s simply too clumsy. Despite treats and quiet words and plenty of good attempts, Cora fell over and dropped things one too many times to keep your kitty’s trust. He did his absolute best not to drop her when she let him hold her at first, but alas…
She lets him pet her when she’s rolled up on the bed next to you, or on your lap, but Corazon has lost all carrying privileges. Whenever he manages to set himself on fire, trip, or drop something loud, she will hide from him for a few hours, observing him in silence until she decides it’s safe to come out again.
When he’s sleeping next to you or lounging on the couch with you, then she will be a little more willing to approach. There’s no risk he will fall over or break things there, so she feels safe enough to enjoy his calm and warm presence.

A Mean Tease
You always get bolder when you’re slightly inebriated, your cheeks reddened and your eyes glossy as you give Vista the most charming smiles. He knows he shouldn’t take any of that too seriously, you’re drunk after all, it’s just the party and the alcohol getting to you… But still… It always happens, and you only ever get that flirtatious with him… Surely that has some weight, no matter what he tries to tell himself.
The swordsman steadies you with a careful hand at your shoulders when you laugh a little too hard at Haruta’s joke and almost fall off the bench. Vista smiles when you lean into him, but your seductively slurred words fluster him once more, for the umpteenth time this evening.
“What would I without you, handsome?” you say quiet enough for just his ears to pick up.
Your delicate hand glides around Vista’s lower back and he tenses up a little, unaccustomed to such intimate and bold touches from you. His cape is keeping you both hidden, Haruta’s attention is on Ace again, and it briefly feels like Vista has you all to himself. Your fingers gently brush his side while you take another sip of your drink, and he almost embraces you.
But Vista needs to remember you’re only teasing him, flirting because you’re drunk, and for no other reason. You’re a mean flirt, Vista thinks to himself while you giggle up at him, finally withdrawing your hand from under his cape.
Instead of returning your hand to its initial position on the table, you place it on his thigh next, and almost make Vista jump off the bench.
Definitely a mean flirt, and a horrible tease, and a brat.
But when your pretty eyes find his and you smile almost bashfully, so beautiful in the low light of the Moby’s mess hall, Vista just can’t be mad at you.
It’s even harder to be mad at you when you get in a teasing mood at the beach, your wet little bikini sticking to your skin as you make your way to his side, in the shallow water. There’s mischief all over your face and Vista knows he’s in for it.
“Thatch got you cocktails already?” he asks before you can say anything, certain you’re tipsy, as always.
You surprise him when you shake your head with a wide grin.
“I finally have some free time outside of dinner hours,” you reply happily. “Saw you enjoying the waves and wanted to join you.”
Vista suddenly feels self-conscious, exposed in ways he normally doesn’t when he’s wearing his swimsuit. You poke his side, making him jump a little, and giggle at his reaction. So you’re like this when you’re sober too? And even though Haruta and the others are playing beach volley a few yards away, you decided to come to Vista, again?
“Wanna head out for a little swim?”
You’re tying your hair back, still smiling wide, looking as pretty as always and standing way too close to him, and Vista can’t say no to you.
“Here, since you’re a better swimmer,” you start in a teasing tone, “why don’t you carry me for a bit? At least until we’re in open water.”
Before he can respond, you’re tugging at his shoulders to get him to bend down, and Vista obliges you, mostly so he can cool down in the water. You could have simply walked around him to climb on, but as always you stick as close to him as you can, grinning proudly as you glide around his shoulder and attach yourself to his back, your arms linking around his neck.
Vista feels you carefully adjust his hair so you don’t tug at it, and he shivers uncontrollably when your fingers caress his neck. You are such a horrible, mean, cruel tease… Don’t you know what you’re doing to him?
“Readyyy ♪♫” you announce in a happy voice, your legs kicking the waves playfully.
“How far off would you like to go, my lady?” he manages to ask in a tone he hopes responds well to your flirtatious words.
“You decide! I know I’m safe with you.”
You press your cheek to his shoulder when your say those sweet words, holding him just a little tighter, and Vista feels the need to dunk his head under water. He swallows thickly and tries to reply confidently, without exposing himself any more than he already is.
“You’re always safe with me!”
The swim would have cleared his mind a little, if you weren’t humming a cute tune and adjusting your body along his bare back after every wave that lifted you ever so slightly off of him. Vista doesn’t take you too far off, but he goes far enough that the noises of the beach don’t really reach you anymore, and it feels like you’re truly alone now.
You thank him and prop yourself up on his shoulders to kiss his head, and Vista wonders why he puts himself in those situations with you. He watches you swim around him, all happy and relaxed, and he knows the answer already. It’s just hard to admit how deeply he loves you, when he knows this is only fun to you…
“See? I don’t need cocktails to have a good time with you! Whatever gave you that silly idea?”
“Well,” Vista hesitates. “You only come to me whenever we’re partying, and there’s always drinks of some kind involved.”
He catches up to you with a single stroke of his arm and steadies you when a particularly large wave rolls beneath you both.
“Aww, do I not spend enough time with you?” you tease easily. “You’ll have to put in a formal request for Haruta to give me different hours, then. He’s responsible for my schedule. Unless…”
You swim even closer to Vista and grin wider as you catch his shoulder to give your legs a rest from treading water.
“I’m sure we could find a way for me to join your division instead!”
That wasn’t the conversation Vista has envisioned at all, and he has no idea how to navigate that particular topic.
“N-now, now, I can’t very well steal my brother’s best subordinate!”
The glimmer in your eyes tells Vista he’s in for another unexpected comeback, and you don’t disappoint him.
“You could challenge him. Duel him for me. That’s part of the rules, isn’t it?”
It is, and Vista’s thought about it frequently these past weeks. He just hoped these thoughts would remain private.
“I’d like to have more time with you than just at night or during parties,” you continue in a quieter voice.
“You’re killing me, little flower…”
The commander didn’t mean to say that out loud, and he feels his heart beat a little harder from anxiety. This back and forth you have now, this constant teasing, it’s as precious to him as it is painful, and he doesn’t want to risk losing it. Or risk losing you.
But you look so pleased with yourself and with his reactions, giddy to know you’re getting to him, and Vista, as always, can’t discern any malice in your beautiful eyes. You’re a tease, but you don’t mean to hurt him. He’s hurting himself by falling more and more in love with you.
Another large wave lifts you both high into the sky and you squeal on the way down, clutching his shoulder tighter for safety. You don’t say anything else for some time, seemingly happy to simply tread water and enjoy the surf with Vista, your attention turned to the endless ocean but your arm still wrapped around his neck.
“You really think I only come to you when I’m drunk?” you ask in a softer tone than usual, not meeting his eyes.
“It’s- it’s what I’ve observed.”
You’re pouting when you turn to face him and Vista almost feels bad for assuming such a thing.
“Half of the cocktails Thatch makes don’t have liquor in them.”
Vista splutters and you grin again. He tries to defend himself, tries to protect the idea that you only flirt with him when you drink, because the alternative has too many implications.
“How am I supposed to know that?! Besides, you’re always- always blushing and giggling and- teasing me!”
You laugh loudly at his indignant tone, oblivious to his inner turmoil.
“And just think of alllll the extra teasing I’ll do once I have more time with you!”
“You… You really- want that?” he asks hesitantly.
“Of course! I love teasing you!”
Damn it. Damn you. Vista sighs in aggravation and tightens his arm around your waist and clenches his jaw and you smile so bright it’s almost blinding, your entire face alight with satisfaction. You’re getting exactly what you want from him.
“Will I still be allowed to tease you when you’re my commander?”
“This isn’t decided yet-”
“Please challenge Haruta to a duel, please, please, please, I want to see you fight for meeeee~”
The swordsman is about to snap at you when you’re both caught off guard by the next wave as it rolls over you, and Vista has to dive under it so you’re not sent tumbling around in the water.
You emerge with a gasp, shaking your hair away from your face and fixing your hold around Vista’s neck, your legs kicking to stay close to him. Vista’s irritation is instantly washed away and he’s quick to steady you, already apologizing for his carelessness.
“Are you alright, little flower!?”
“Y-yeah!” you cough a little but you’re already giggling again. “I told you, I know I’m safe with you~”
Vista sighs heavily and surrenders to you, as always.
“Of course you’re safe with me.”
You grin proudly and shimmy your hips in his hold, your face closer to his than it’s ever been. It hits Vista all at once, as soon as he’s realized it, just how close you are to him. You’re both mostly bare, plastered together chest to chest, arms wrapped tight around one another, isolated from the rest of the crew… Never before, not even when you playfully danced with him, did you get this close to Vista.
You cock your head to the side a little and release one of his shoulders to swipe your fingers along his mustache, carefully fixing it and wiping the sea water away. The gesture is tender and intimate and nothing like your usual playful teasing, and the whiplash after all your mischief and the unexpected conversation is too much for Vista to handle.
Your lips are cool and salty and soft against his, and Vista’s hand perfectly cradles the back of your head as he finally snaps and kisses you.
He’ll blame his actions on the sun, the heat, dehydration, lack of sleep, old age, anything he can think of to hide the truth. That the real reason he couldn’t hold back anymore, and the reason he can no longer pull away, is because of how madly in love he is with you.
It has to be the reason he loses track of time as well, because one desperate press of his lips against yours turns into two, three, then deeper kisses, and he’s lost count but you’re not pushing away. You’re… kissing him back.
When Vista is finally able to take a proper breath and reconnect his brain to his body, he realizes you’ve grabbed hold of his hair and adjusted his face slightly to the side. Your tongue is gliding along his lips, teasing once again, flicking his tongue playfully, your nails are pressing into his scalp, and you moan softly when Vista’s hand tightens at your lower back.
The sound is enough to fully snap Vista back to reality, and he tries to pull away to apologize but you don’t let him. Your next kiss is far more passionate and confident and the way you pull his hair makes Vista groan and distracts him from everything that isn’t you.
Being dunked by a wave just as your tongues finally meet was not how Vista envisioned your first kiss going. Though to be fair, he never thought there would be a first kiss.
You’re coughing a lot more than when you got dunked earlier, and Vista is even more apologetic this time.
“I- I’m terribly sorry, I don’t know what came over me-”
The swordsman starts swimming back a little closer to the shore, carefully keeping you above the water, and calls your name when you don’t respond to him, worried.
“Do you really regret it?” you ask softly.
It’s a level of vulnerability he hasn’t seen from you very often, especially not around him. You’re always so confident in your mischief and flirting, but maybe… Maybe that was all a shield to hide the softness he sees in you now, pretty eyes unsure, reddened lips slightly pinched together, your back stiffer in his arms and your shoulders drawn in.
Vista sighs and smiles softly at you. You’ll drive him mad, he’s sure of it.
“No. I only regret not getting your permission first.”
You immediately perk back up at that, bratty and proud once more, releasing your lips to lick them as your eyes flicker to Vista’s.
“So does that mean I get to join your squad? Or will it be an issue if I’m dating my commander?”
Vista chuckles and shakes his head.
“Were you really just waiting for me to snap?”
“Duh. I put so much effort into it! You’re a tough man to break.”
“And here I was, wondering if you were just playing with me…”
You giggle and kiss him again and Vista sighs happily, still slowly making his way back to shore.
“You didn’t answer my question about joining your squad.”
“You just want to watch me duel Haruta…”
“Yes.”
Figuring it’s his turn to tease you, Vista grins and adjusts you in his arm.
“What will you do if I lose, hm?”
“You would lose? With me on the line?”
And as always you all too easily turn things around. Vista just can’t win against you. Unless…
“It depends what ‘dating’ would entail…”
You gasp and splash him lightly, making Vista laugh.
“Haruta is a fierce opponent!” he continues in a joking tone. “But if your heart is on the line…”
“Not my heart, silly, you already have that.”
Vista finds himself destabilized again, but instead of anxiety, now that he’s learning your feelings mirror his own, your flirtatious teasing fills him with joy.
“This would be about keeping me all to yourself~” you hum happily, giving him another light kiss. “And I would also get to watch you fight. I love watching you fight.”
“You do?” Vista asks softly, pulling you up on his chest to carry you back to shore faster.
“Especially when I know you’re not really in danger.”
“How long have you- felt that way?” he hesitantly asks.
“How long have I been teasing you?”
Your cool fingers glide along his collarbone and Vista chuckles again.
“All that turmoil for nothing…”
“Turmoil? Were you really suffering so badly?”
“To think that you were only teasing me for fun, whenever you got drunk, and that you had no deeper affections for me? I suffered tremendously.”
That had you cooing in sympathy, your hands cradling his jaw in a tender and comforting gesture.
“Then you’d better win that duel, so I can have all the time in the world to show you just how deep my affections go~”
Vista laughs and turns his head around to see how close they are, and where Haruta is. Knowing his brother, as soon as Vista brings it up, Haruta will want the fight to take place immediately. Which might work in Vista’s favor, given how much more experience the swordsman has when it comes to fighting on sand.
When Vista spots his brothers already pointing at you both and yelling excitedly as they notice the very obvious development in your relationship, he grins and kicks his legs a little faster.
“I have a feeling that duel might take place sooner rather than later,” the swordsman muses.
You squeal in anticipation and spend the rest of the swim back to shore trading gentle kisses with your lover, eager to watch him fight and eager to finally have more time to spend with him, already looking forward to all the ways you’ll be able to tease him.
i hope you liked this !

while exploring a new island, you and Vista run into a Devil Fruit user...
notes: fluffy and fun ♡ f!reader ♡ sfw
The island’s forest was truly magnificent, lush and soft and fresh, populated with delightful songbirds and adorable critters, and for once not crawling with huge insects. It was a beautiful little paradise, and you and Vista took full advantage of it, enjoying a long nature walk in the bright Spring weather. You were just turning around to return to the Moby when a strange rustling alerted the swordsman, causing him to cautiously pull you closer while he prepared to unsheathe his sword.
You were ready for a beast of some sort, one of the island’s predators that was awakened by the coming dusk, but a young man appeared instead, looking both very scared and very angry. He didn’t appear armed, but Vista knew better, so he kept you close and tried to appease the youth by pulling his hand off his sword.
“Hello there!” he tries in a friendly voice, intent on soothing the youth’s nerves and avoid conflict with the locals. Pops doesn’t appreciate senseless violence, and it’s perfectly natural for the young man to fear an armed pirate like Vista. “We’re only visiting your lovely island, we won’t disturb your peace!”
The youth seems to think his words over, and slightly relaxes his posture. Vista doesn’t reach for his sword, but he also doesn’t let you come forward, and you know his senses are trained on the surroundings to make sure you’re not embushed by other potential threats.
“Visitors?” the young man asks in disbelief. “There’s nothing to see here.”
“I disagree! Your island is beautiful! We’ve been on sea for so long, it’s a heavenly respite.”
Vista’s smooth talking and calming voice are usually able to work wonders on scared locals, but the boy stays alert, his eyes flickering over to you briefly. You smile as soothingly as possible and give him a warm greeting as well.
“We’re on our way back to our crew,” you explain softly, “we won’t disturb you any further.”
You push Vista a little to convey your desire to walk off, and the swordsman follows your lead with a gentlemanly tilt of his hat to the young man, who stays resolutely mute.
“Have a good evening, then!”
With his cape wrapped protectively over you, Vista leads you away, his attention still carefully trained on the youth. It’s not until you’re a few feet away that the swordsman senses unexpected aggression from the boy. He spins around quickly, still shielding you, and catches a large rock the young man sent hurling at you.
“Now, now,” Vista chastises, dropping the rock. “There’s no need for such violence. We have no ill intentions towards you or your people!”
“I’m not scared of you!” the youth shouts, grabbing another handful of rocks and sand and tossing them at you.
None of the rocks are heavy enough to any damage, so Vista only raises his cape to make sure no dirt gets on you, and he sighs wearily at the needless hostility. He only cocks a suspicious eyebrow when the young man snickers in nervous excitement.
He claps his hands and you gasp, a horrible feeling suddenly assaulting your body. Vista grunts and stumbles and the last thing you see before losing consciousness is the young man running away into the woods
*♡*♡*♡*♡*
When you come to, you’re immediately looking for Vista, worried. It only takes you a few seconds to realize something is very, very wrong. Your hands seem far too large on the wet earth, the blades of glass much smaller than they were only moments prior. You find Vista quickly, and you gasp in surprise at how… small he is.
The swordsman is also looking at you, very shocked and struggling to understand what just happened.
“Are you alright, my flower?” he asks as you try to stand up, his hand reaching for yours.
Your eyes go wide at how much smaller it is than yours and you rear back reflexively, your brain flooded with anxiety at the bizarre sight.
“What the hell-”
“I’ve been asking myself the same thing… I think we’ve been hit by some annoying Devil Fruit, my darling… I’m terribly sorry I wasn’t able to protect you.”
“But how- Why are you so- Why am I so- so-”
Vista holds your arm as you stand but as you straighten up it’s obvious he won’t be much help… Not when he can barely reach your elbow. You both look at each other, completely dumbfounded, until a nervous and uncontrollable laugh bursts from your lips. The swordsman follows suit, and your laughter echoes in the forest until you’re both breathless.
“Oh, my god, he’s switched our heights!” you gasp, still shaken by your giggles.
“It would appear so!”
Despite the strangeness of the situation, Vista is still smiling, arms crossed and looking up at you with his usual confident gaze.
“Let’s head back before it’s dark. I’m sure we’ll be able to find a solution tomorrow,” he reassures you, holding out his little hand for you to take. “We’ll try to reason with the lad, or ask Pops for help if the villagers are close-minded, or maybe it will simply resolve itself overnight!”
“You’re awfully calm about this,” you chuckle. You have to bend under the branches and take much smaller steps than usual to keep up with Vista’s pace.
His demeanor is a great help, Vista’s usual steadfast nature calming you and keeping you positive. It’s strangely funny to feel his fingers struggle to wrap around only a few of your fingers, and to see him take wide and quick steps next to you. It’s also strange to have to look down instead of up, and to see him strain his neck to face you.
“This will get one hell of a reaction from everybody,” you say when the beach comes into view.
“We will certainly be the center of attention for the night!”
It’s Pops who spots you first, and his eyes widen comically before he bursts into laughter, alerting everyone else. Thatch almost falls over from laughter, and Fossa needs to lean over him after a few minutes of uncontrollable cackles. Marco is the only one who’s fussing over you both, as always, and even once he’s certain you’re not harmed, he doesn’t join the general amusement.
“You make for quite the striking woman, at such a height,” Izou comments with a smirk.
You blush and try to hide, but now that you’re two meters taller, it’s quite impossible to be discreet. Vista huffs but is quickly distracted when Blenheim pokes his smaller hat teasingly.
“And how do you feel now that you’re pocket-sized, brother?” he chuckles.
“No less fierce than I was before!”
After everyone has had their fill teasing you both, the harmless situation a source of endless jokes by now, it’s time for dinner. Thatch, ever mindful of his family’s well-being, brings you a much larger plate than usual, along with adapted cutlery, and is very happy to present Vista with what is your usual table-wear.
“This is so damn inconvenient,” Vista grumbles as he struggles to get on the tall log you chose to sit on.
“Here, let me.”
You reach down and easily scoop him up, your hand wrapping around his waist effortlessly so you can plop him next to you. It’s the strangest thing you’ve ever done in your life, and it takes you both a moment to get over that, but soon you’re laughing again, and so are Atmos and Blenheim who watched everything in bewilderment.
“You could actually take him on your lap now!” Atmos wheezes, almost spilling his meal into the sand.
You laugh harder and don’t notice Vista’s slight blush and evident interest.
“That would be more comfortable than the log,” he says as discreetly as possible.
With a surprised splutter, you look down at him and find him giving you the closest thing you’ve ever seen to puppy-eyes on Vista’s face. You chuckle in disbelief and adjust your bowl before grabbing him again and helping him up on your thighs, your mind reeling at the absurdity of the situation. Blenheim and Atmos almost fall over from laughter, alerting the others who notice the scene and also descend into loud laughing fits. Vista, for his part is very happy to be on your lap, and grins proudly despite how uncomfortable this must be for him.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” you whisper in his ear, bending over to be as discreet as possible.
“It’s strange, but… it’s not all bad, my flower. And I’m confident the situation will be easily resolved.”
“You’re not- I mean… it’s not too embarrassing for you?”
Vista laughs and attempts to wrap his shorter arm around your waist.
“It’ll take a whole lot more than that to embarrass me, my flower. Especially when I’m distracted by your… magnificence.”
The swordsman does look positively enchanted by your new appearance, eyes glittering when he looks up to you, his fingers gliding along your longer back tenderly.
“I must confess, though I never dreamed such a situation would ever be possible, I find it incredibly pleasant.”
You hide your laugh behind your hand when Vista nuzzles against your chest shamelessly, much the same way you usually do.
“It’s nice, isn’t it?” you ask discreetly. “Feeling all safe and cozy in the arms of the one you love?”
“Very nice… I can understand why you never leave my side.”
After dinner and a very long string of repetitive and inappropriate jokes, Vista and you can finally retreat to bed. Pops and Marco will go to the villagers with you in the morning to sort everything out, so for now all that’s left to do is get through the night. Neither you nor Vista have night clothes that fit you now, and you’re thankful it’s not the dead of winter, since you won’t be able to rely on his body heat anymore. The bed feels almost small now, and you find yourself worried you’ll crush your lover in your sleep.
“Nothing of the sort will happen, my flower. I’m as strong as ever! And besides… I would certainly not mind finding myself nestled beneath your perfect body…”
His tone shifts from playful reassurance to his usual seductive drawl, causing you to bite your lips and shift in the bed excitedly. This is a… unique situation, to say the least, and it could lead to some interesting fun. You tentatively brush your fingertips across Vista’s chest and he smirks at you. Sure, he’s much smaller than usual, but it’s still him… And he’s clearly still very hungry for you.
“Want to make the most of this night?” the swordsman proposes, winking at you.
With an enthusiastic nod, you lean over to try kissing him. The experience is different, but as you thought, it’s still the Vista you know and love. The glimmer in your eyes makes him chuckle, and Vista pushes himself up for another kiss, as excited as you to see what kind of fun can be had tonight.
*♡*♡*♡*♡*
“Need a lift?” Pops asks Vista with no malice, ready to head out to the village Haruta scouted out.
“I’ll be alright,” the swordsman replies with a happy smile.
You give Vista a dubious look. Experience has taught you that when Pops decides it’s time to go, you need to hitch a ride on either Vista or one of you taller friends. Your short legs won’t allow you to keep up with his wide strides. You’re ready to assist Vista if needed, but after a few minutes of walking it’s clear his strength and speed have not been affected by his size reduction. Last night should have been enough proof for you…
Marco is perched on Pops’ shoulder as always, his somewhat bored gaze surveying the trees as the four of you speed through the wild woods towards the local village. It’s unbelievably strange to be so much closer to Pops in height, and you do your best to enjoy it while it lasts, but a part of you can’t wait to be small and cradled in Vista’s arms again. You should be safely perched on his shoulder right now, matching Marco’s stance, not jogging by Pops’ side while Vista runs to keep up with you all.
The villagers are quite scared when you arrive, but Marco is quick to settle everyone down and explain the situation.
“We meant no harm, but some of our crew got hit by a Devil Fruit’s powers yesterday… They saw one of your youths in the forest, and can point him out if necessary, yoi.”
The chief is quick to react, calling forth the young man who tossed rocks at Vista and you. The boy looks defiant and proud, but his stance wavers under Whitebeard’s towering presence.
“Protecting your people, boy?” the captain asks. “That’s a noble endeavor. But you should know friend from foe, before you go and turn the entire Grand Line against your people!”
A slight tremor shakes the island and the youth’s demeanor changes quickly.
“Undo what you did, boy. And we’ll be on our way.”
“We’ll let you fly our flag for protection, yoi,” Marco adds.
With a shake of his staff, the chief calls the youth forward, and the young man hesitantly approaches you and Vista. He holds out his hand without a word, and you reach out to him as well, understanding quickly that he needs some form of contact to use his powers. The painful feeling envelops you again, and you hear a choked groan from Vista before losing consciousness once more.
Pops catches your body as you shrink and fall, grumbling under his breath about bothersome powers.
“You should practice more,” Marco encourages the young man. “This could be a great boon, if handled correctly! You can make giants with the right trade, yoi.”
“We’re sorry for causing you trouble,” the chief says with his head bowed. “We’ve been visited by pirates before, he was just scared!”
“As I said,” Marco drawls, “you can fly our flag now. You’ll be left alone.”
“Live in peace,” Pops states with finality, reaching for Vista with his other hand and walking away, carrying his children back to safety.
When you come to, you’re in the infirmary, and everything is the size it’s supposed to be again. Even your lover, who is patiently waiting for you to emerge, stroking your cheek carefully with a soft smile.
“There you are, my flower. How are you feeling?” Vista asks as you sit up.
“Much more… normal,” you sigh, looking into his eyes.
The swordsman chuckles and rubs your back.
“As things are meant to be once more, hm?”
“Exactly…”
“I want you to know, my flower,” he starts quietly, bending down to whisper in your ear. “No matter what shapes our bodies may hold, I will always love you. I will always desire you. Your soul and presence will always have the same invaluable appeal to me.”
You smile wide and reach for Vista, pulling him down to kiss his lips.
“Mon chéri… The same goes for me,” you assure him. “I will always know your heart. No matter what.”
“And,” he adds with a smirk and a quieter voice, “we will always find a way to have some fun…”
Remembering last night’s fun experiments, you giggle and pull him into another kiss, only pushing Vista away when Tate clears her throat and walks up to you to clear you.
“Always,” Vista assures you with a wink.
the NSFW part is in the works !! i wasn't in the mood when i wrote the fluffy parts sowwy
had some quick little Vista thoughts, nothing too fancy, but it still felt so good to write a little after work... i have an actual fic to post soon too ♡
Thinking of Vista who is so desperately and completely in love with you while you remain clueless and only playfully flirt with him…
Everyone on the ship knows except for you, you just think he’s being nice to you, Vista isn’t overbearing with his intentions after all, he doesn’t want you to feel pressured.
And maybe you grew up being asked out as a joke, being laughed at for thinking anyone would ever want you, so you gave up on the idea entirely, and now that it’s genuine you don’t even allow yourself to notice it.
Of course Vista is dying to be with you, to hold you and kiss you and give you love and tenderness and tell you everything he’s been silently screaming through his discreet gestures.
He is by your side as often as possible, with a quiet happy glow in his eyes, a dopey smile hidden under his mustache whenever you look away.
You make jokes with him, laugh and giggle so sweetly, blush when he compliments you, but you never take his comments seriously.
Vista stays patient, he doesn’t even plan or expect you to end up with him eventually, he just appreciates every moment spent with you, treasures whatever he gets from you, and dismisses his brothers’ assurances that he should make a move on you.
But every time you are near him and he can smell you, feel your skin, hear your breathing, study the details of your face… all he can dream of is tasting your lips.
What would it take for you to realize he is in love with you? To see that his feelings are genuine? Would you ever accept it?
He asks himself those questions all the time, and you have no idea.
Vista starts collecting things that remind him of you, because he suffers in your absence, and when he finds something he thinks you will like, he buys it discretely and finds a good occasion to give it to you without arousing your suspicions.
He loses interest in anyone who tires to flirt with him at bars, and since you have no interest in being taken for a fool again and asked out as a prank, you stay with him.
You tell him he makes you feel safe and Vista has never felt more pride.
The bar gets a bit too loud that particular night, and you suggest going for a walk, and of course Vista isn’t about to let you head out on your own, or pass the opportunity to spend more time with you.
And you look so pretty in the moonlight, shimmering hair and soft skin haloed beautifully in the night… The sight of you, as always, makes his heart race.
It feels like it would be the perfect time to speak his heart’s truth, the mood is romantic, you won’t be interrupted, you’re close enough to the ship that if you turned him down you could walk home on your own…
Vista knows he should be happy with your simple presence and company, but he’s starving for more of you. His heart skips a beat when you huddle a little closer to him, looking for warmth when a cold wind rises from the shore.
He wraps his arm around your shoulder, nothing too forward… It’s still enough to briefly overtake him, the urge to pull you even closer uncontrollable.
“It’s quite chilly,” he rumbles as an excuse, and you chuckle happily.
“Not anymore,” you respond with a twinkle in your eyes.
Do you truly have no clue what you’re doing to him? And if he were to reveal his feelings to you now, would you… would you accept him?
Maybe he’s allowed to take a chance, and maybe your playful flirts are an indication that your feelings for him are deeper than simple friendship… Maybe if he gives it a shot, he will have what he so desperately wants, and finally ease his yearning heart…
You tilt your head a little, his unusual silence piquing your curiosity.
When Vista holds out his hand, you smile and catch it easily, but his serious demeanor alerts you that something is different tonight.
What will you say when he finally bares his love for you?
The crew docked at a winter island and discovered a new tradition there, one that could lead to very happy results...
notes: sfw ♡ fluff ♡ getting together
The crew hears about the tradition from the town's mayor, something about good luck for couples, for the community, something to warm the heart and body through the brutal months of deep winter. It makes for a pretty decoration, the green branches glossy and tied in a beautiful red ribbon of satin silk, and if they can have fun with it back on the ship, all the better.
Vista catches them hanging it up and when Izou explains the tradition, the swordsman knows it spells trouble for him. Ever since he’d drunkenly declared his love for you a few weeks back, late at night while downing spiced whiskey with his brothers, they’d decided the match simply had to happen. It was only after repeated and very serious threats of mischief and violence that Vista had managed to get them to swear they wouldn’t bring Pops into it.
Of course the prospect of keeping you on board permanently made everyone happy. As it was right now, you would leave them once you reached your destination, their obligations to you fulfilled when you were delivered safely. Who knew a favor for your old friend Jinbei would lead to such a situation…
Izou smirks at Vista’s weary glare and pats his shoulder.
“Now, now. It’s just a fun tradition. Look, family can partake as well!”
Jiru and Haruta pretend to run into each other under the mistletoe, demonstrating the custom to the rest of the crew with a warm brotherly embrace.
“You can decide how you want to approach her once we get you both under there,” the samurai explains with a sharp grin. “Be a man and kiss her properly, or be a coward and simply hug her.”
“You little-”
“Hey, now. Respect the holiday spirit. No need to be mean.”
“You just called me a coward!” Vista fumes.
“I would never!”
Izou laughs as he walks away, leaving his brother to angrily contemplate the pretty little plant. Why everyone was so convinced you’d receive his advances positively, Vista had no idea. Sure, you always appreciated his gifts of flowers and never rebuffed his attempts at conversation, but that did not mean you were open to anything romantic on his part.
“You’re overthinking it again,” Rakuyo snickers, his hand clapped a little too tightly over Vista’s shoulder.
“Mhm,” Fossa agrees, catching the swordsman’s other shoulder and effectively caging him in. “Definitely no need to think so hard.”
“This is a delicate situation-” Vista tries to argue, ready to shove them both off.
“Nope. Very simple.”
“Just think about it this way,” Rakuyo explains quietly, cocking his head to give Vista a mischievous look. “If you do it right, she’ll be so happy. Trust us on that.”
“I really don’t see why-”
“Trust us,” Fossa grumbles.
“But if you don’t,” Rakuyo continues, “she’ll be soooo disappointed… Picture that, hm? Her sad little crestfallen face, big wet eyes and pouting lips, wondering why you’re so fucking stupid-”
“Hey!”
“Dense,” Fossa adds.
“Very dense,” Rakuyo snickers, his attention going back to the mess hall’s doors.
Vista tenses up when he sees Izou leading you in, his hands over your eyes, the two of you smiling as the samurai promises you’ll like the surprise they prepared for you.
“Think about it real hard, and think fast,” Fossa whispers.
“Have we ever mislead you?” Rakuyo asks. “Trust your older brothers, idiot.”
They shove him forward just as Izou places you under the mistletoe and tilts your head upwards. Your hands blindly reach ahead of you and Vista reflexively catches them to help you steady yourself as you stumble a little.
“Oop, sorry!” you giggle, still blindfolded by Izou’s hands.
Vista swallows thickly but doesn’t reply. No way out now, he figures.
“You said you knew a few things about winter customs, right?” Izou asks you.
“Uh, yeah, sure!”
“Well,” he continues, slowly uncovering your eyes. “Do you know this one?”
Your pretty eyes blink open and search around the ceiling a bit before finding the ribbon-adorned mistletoe. You smile wide and laugh happily, still not releasing Vista’s hands as they steady you.
“Of course I- do, oh,” your voice goes a little quieter when you finally see it’s him holding you, your happy smile mellowing out to a more shy expression as a soft blush dusts your cheeks.
Vista smiles at you, thumbs brushing over your knuckles. He doesn’t have a lot of time to make up his mind, but deep down he knows Rakuyo is right. He’d much rather see you look uncomfortable than teary-eyed.
His heart is hammering in his chest when Vista pulls you in a little closer, taking a step towards you and a deep breath, trying to act far more composed than he feels.
“Then, if you’ll allow me,” he says softly, bending down to your level, “I do believe I owe you a kiss.”
You look like you’re expecting a cheek kiss, but when you realize he’s aiming for your lips, your eyes widen a bit and your lips part with a soft gasp, further encouraging Vista to finally go for it. The first press of his lips on yours is gentle and tentative and so sweet that the swordsman has to immediately give you a second kiss, slightly more confident this time, angling his head a little to get even closer to you.
Vista feels you smile when his brothers loudly cheer around you, clapping and whistles echoing in the mess hall. Your smaller hands tighten around his and he smiles too, so much that he has to break the kiss.
“YEAH! There you go!” Rakuyo yells excitedly.
You’re blushing and laughing too, leaning against your joined hands, so happy your eyes are sparkling, and despite his uncontrollable grin Vista simply has to kiss you again.
“Happy holidays,” he whispers to you once you break apart again.
“Happy holidays,” you reply, barely audible over the joyful chaos surrounding you.
Things get even louder when Pops walks in, the curious look on his face quickly replaced by elation as soon as he sees Vista and you.
“About damn time!” the captain yells, prompting another round of cheers and raucous laughter. “Glad to know you won’t be leaving us any time soon, brat!”
You hide your face in Vista’s chest and he tips his hat over his own face, almost as embarrassed as you, but grinning nonetheless. This is definitely his new favorite holiday tradition, after Valentine’s day. Speaking of which, he might need to start his preparations, now that he finally has someone to shower in gifts and affection...
thank you for reading and happy holidays !
