“I’m tired,” Lana mumbled, rubbing her eyes.

“Me too, ”I replied, stretching out further on the sofa.

“And I don’t like summer anymore. It’s too hot.” She complained, snuggling into my chest.

“Well, that’s because you’re ginger.” I joked, causing Lana to smile sleepily before letting her eyelids flutter shut. I put my arm around her, smiling when she snuggled into me further.

We’d spent the day out getting food and walking around town. It had been one of the hottest days of the year, and once we got back to mine we’d just crashed.

Lana shifted, curling her legs up towards me and burying her face in my shoulder. Her tiredness made me tired, and I gave off a loud yawn. She grunted in response, making me laugh.

“Lana?” I called in a sing-song voice. She ignored me. “Lana banana,” I called again, making her groan.

“Stop quoting Jessica Lange.” She grumbled. She’d always hated it when I called her ‘Lana banana’. I moved my shoulder, forcing her to sit up. Before she could protest, I settled myself with my head in her lap. She smiled at me and threaded her fingers in my hair. It felt nice.

We’d been so much more touchy-feely recently; I was surprised no-one had noticed. If my mum knew I think she’d start arranging our wedding. She’d always wanted us to get together, but I’d never felt more than friendship towards Lana.  I was still confused about how I felt. I liked spending time with her, but, she’s my best friend? Of course I liked spending time with her.

I knew I needed to figure things out, especially with how fast things were moving. But thinking about it made my head spin. So, I was going to do what I did best.

Repress the shit out of it.
