What is this real (sims) life?

My game has been super glitchy since downloading the new expansion and it's pretty annoying. I can't use a lot of the new features & shizz. But one of my sims just impregnated his wife... And he got pregnant too. Honestly I'm impressed, how did i break my game so well? Also, another one of my sims caught fire and has been on fire ever since. So that's pretty cool, I guess.
