ISLA NOVAK: HERE, BUT ELSEWHERE

Some people demand attention the second they enter a room. Isla Novak isn’t one of them. She doesn’t need to. She’s the kind of person you notice after a while—when you realize she hasn’t said much, but somehow, everything bends toward her. It’s not shyness. It’s not mystery. It’s like she’s tuned into a different frequency, one most people can’t hear.

When we meet, she’s leaning against a window, fingers tracing the condensation on the glass. “I forget to answer texts,” she says before I even ask a question. “Not because I don’t care. I just… get lost in my own head.”

CC: What usually keeps you there?

ISLA: Everything. Nothing. I could spend hours thinking about why certain colors shouldn’t go together but somehow do. Or wondering what my life would be like if I’d taken a different train last week. I live in tangents.

CC: Does that ever make it hard to focus?

ISLA: (Smiles.) Maybe. But I think focus is overrated. People get so fixated on one path, one identity. I like being a little scattered.

CC: You move through different spaces—fashion, art, music. Do you feel like you belong anywhere?

ISLA: Not really. But I like that. It means I can leave whenever I want.

CC: That sounds like you’re always ready to disappear.

ISLA: I like knowing that I could. Like, I love what I do, but I don’t want to be trapped in it. I could drop everything tomorrow and start over somewhere nobody knows me. That’s kind of comforting.

CC: Do you think you’ll ever actually do that?

ISLA: (Laughs.) Probably not. But I like to keep the option open. I think it’s why I don’t overshare online. People think they know you when they don’t. I’d rather keep a little distance.

CC: You seem hard to impress. Is there anything that actually excites you?

ISLA: Newness. Something I’ve never seen before, never thought of before. It could be a weird film, a collection that makes no sense at first, a song with a chord progression that hits different. The second I feel like I’ve figured everything out, I get bored. That’s when I know I need to move on.

CC: Does anything scare you?

ISLA: (Pauses.) Not being able to change. Waking up one day and realizing I’ve become someone I don’t recognize, and I can’t undo it.

The camera barely catches her. Not because she’s hard to photograph, but because she doesn’t try to be photographed. A turn of the head, a flicker of light across her skin—effortless, in motion, already somewhere else.

And then she’s gone.

Some replies... A lot.. I hope you're not on your phone.. this one is quite long, so it's a read more thingie.. So sorry for the long. post.. I hope I tagged this right and got everyone correctly in it... x3 I noticed some of these 'read more' posts do not function on my phone.. I just see the whole thing immediately.. Not sure if it's just my phone or normal....

What was the last moment that you were really proud of? Today at school.. being able to see the difference between the twins in my class... XD. We had 1 twin before, and I had a hard time remembering them... now.. we even have 2 twins! so 4 people.. but I actually remembered it better than before.. xD Yes, I'm proud at many little things.

What do you think is the meaning of life? *shrugs* I've no idea what I should be thinking of life, it's such a strange yet interesting subject.... I do see myself pondering about it sometimes... What's worth it anyways? .. I guess I want to try to be as happy as possible and smile with others.. ^^

What is your favourite food? Anything spicy... *Q* ... Well, I don't know exctly, bleh! I love many food.. so picking a favorite is really hard.. 

How’s your sleeping schedule? Haha.... HA... HAHAHAH.. what schedule. ? xD I mean, lets say it's kinda messed up.

What do you think is important to do everyday? BRUSH MY TEETH.....? lol.

Is your room messy or clean? Depends.. Depends.. It's usually clean, because my mom always makes me tidy it up, but sometimes I just sit there and in no time all my books are scattered in the room! =D Very fancy.

Do you play online games? If yes, which online games? Online games.. Bleh, I'm playing League of Legends and S4 League, but not much lately. One of my S4 League friends, insisted on playing Terra with me, but we still haven't decided.

Do you get pissed off easily? Not at all, which may be kind of a problem sometimes.. I think, but I guess, I'll get really pissed off, if you'd mess with anyone or I see that the person who's acting totally ***, isn't making any sense.

Do you sleep with a night light or without a night light? Night lights? HAHAHAHA, no night light xD But I do have a light besides my bed. Sometimes when I hear a weird noise, I get super scared and turn that light on for a while, but then later, I usually turn it off again.

Do you have a lot of friends with a few acquaintances or a few friends with a lot of acquaintances? I think if I would see these 'few friends' as, really good friends. I'd go with the few friends with a lot of acquaintances, which is totally fine with me ^^

How easily do you trust people? I don't.  Not at all. This may sound harsh, but when I first get to know someone, I start off with 0 trust.. I just wait and see how they react, their personality.. and more, until I give them some trust. Usually, I can talk easily to these people, otherwise.. I'm just scared.. x)

Japanese man or Korean? Why? .. *tickles you* BOTH, BOTH. BOTH. =[ Not all of them look the same, but I love the japanese culture and I've started to taking a liking for the korean one too.. and some of these boys ain't bad.. WHY AM I SUPPOSE TO CHOOSE? *glares*

Anime or Live action? Eh? .......................... What's live action.. Lol! Do you mean like, a tv-series with real persons in it xD? It just really depends on what I'm watching, some animes are so fun, but some can be .. BLEH.. Worst injury you’ve ever had? I've been in a car accident. I had amnesia for a while, but I've totally recovered from it ^^
