To help celebrate retailer GOG.com's 14th Anniversary and accompanying sale, a rotating selection of video games will be given away, free for a limited time courtesy of the retailer and respective developers/publishers.

Master of Magic Classic by SimTex is a vintage classic turn-based strategy game with RPG elements from 1994 akin to the Civilization franchise, in which you play a wizard attempting to dominate two linked fantasy worlds by building up cities, leading troops in combat, and/or collecting spells from different magical systems to overcome rival mages according to your chosen playstyle.

The game is compatible with Windows (having originally been created for MS-DOS) and is offered in an updated version with improved AI and additional gameplay features. Bonuses include PDF versions of the original manual and Spellbook (also in German), the in-game soundtrack album (MP3 format), and apparently also an emulated Linux port available in English, French, and German.
