What is a beauty standard you grew up with that now as an adult you know was wrong?
SINFUL SUNDAY 4/8
“Oh my gosh, don’t even get me started......but since you asked, lemme break it down for you because I honestly wish I had this advice and knowledge.
When I was younger, I was always in that mindset that I had to look like the women in the magazines or television. Skinny was like, the thing, and if you had just a little extra cushion for the pushin it was seen as a bad thing. I don’t know how many times I would think I had to be skinny to be cool, or skinny to be popular, or beautiful. But that was the stigma, thin was in and I tried so hard to fit that mold. It’s disgusting what “beauty standards” can do to young girls, it eats you alive to constantly want to look like other people when in reality everyone is born beautiful.
I used to hate my curves, and tried to get rid of them, but now I love my thick thighs and my booty and I think my viewers do too. It’s my things, I own it, and I hate all the years I wasted not loving it. Beauty starts from within, it’s something I learned recently, and it’s no more diets and juice cleanses for me. I love food, I love my curves, and anyone who doesn’t can kiss my fat ass.”
