I need to talk about "Say a Little Prayer" and how beautiful that song is for the Planet of Love...
And can we PLEASE talk about how we (well, mostly me and Darius fans) were robbed of such a beautiful moment for his character? Not to mention, Erick André’s interpretation would have undoubtedly been sublime.
I don’t know if anyone has already said what I’m about to write, but I need to get it out of my mind.
First of all, I have to say that, for me, praying for someone is simply an immense act of love. It’s like you’re sacrificing yourself to whatever you believe in so that the other person can come back to you or be okay. 💖✨
The concept of “I Say a Little Prayer” is deeply emotional and carries a weight of devotion and sacrifice that transcends a simple declaration of love. To speak of “praying” for someone evokes an almost spiritual connection, where the other’s well-being becomes an absolute priority. It’s as if you’re completely giving yourself to that person, to the point of asking the universe or a higher power to let you care for them or keep them close.
The song speaks of a love so profound that even the most mundane tasks are imbued with their presence; every daily action becomes a reminder and an act of devotion, almost as if life itself is dedicated to that feeling. It’s not just romantic love but an emotional self-immolation: being willing to prioritize that person even if it means sacrificing part of yourself.
I’m just saying that including Darius in a moment like that would have been a brilliant choice to add depth to his character. Imagine it: someone as egocentric and eccentric as him confronting a feeling as pure and selfless as “praying for someone.” It would have shown a more “human” and vulnerable side of him, challenging his presumptuous nature.
It could have been an incredibly emotional scene: Darius singing “I Say a Little Prayer” not out of ego or spectacle, but with a sincerity that even he finds unsettling, revealing that, despite his facade, he is capable of feeling true devotion for someone else. (Preferably towards Louisa, but it could also work for Meena fans.) A moment where his dramatism turns into sincerity and his eccentricity transforms into tenderness.
With his intensity and passion, it would have been perfect. His performance could have been like an anthem to true love, an act of emotional surrender that shattered his initial image.
In short, “I Say a Little Prayer” would have been the perfect choice to showcase a transformation in Darius, a character with the potential to be so much more than just comic relief. But well, maybe I’m not being objective because I love Darius and, honestly, Alfonso doesn’t sit well with me. Even so, the Planet of Love deserved a moment as powerful and emotional as that.

Como si te entregaras completamente a esa persona, al punto de pedir al universo, a una fuerza superior, que te permita cuidarla o mantenerla cerca.
La canción habla de un amor tan profundo que incluso las tareas más cotidianas están impregnadas de su presencia, cada acción diaria es un recordatorio y un acto de devoción, casi como si la vida misma estuviera dedicada a ese sentimiento. Solo digo que incluir a Darius en un momento como ese habría sido un acierto para su desarrollo, para añadirle profundidad a su personaje. Imaginenlo: alguien tan egocéntrico y excéntrico enfrentándose a un sentimiento tan puro y desinteresado como el de "rezar por alguien". Habría mostrado un lado más 'humano' y vulnerable de él, desafiando su naturaleza presumida.
Podría haber sido una escena increíblemente emotiva: Darius cantando “I Say a Little Prayer” no desde el ego o el espectáculo, sino con una honestidad que lo desconcertara incluso a él mismo, dejando entrever que, a pesar de su fachada, es capaz de sentir una devoción real por alguien más. (Preferentemente hacia Louisa pero a los fans de meena también les puede funcionar) Un momento donde su dramatismo se vuelve sinceridad y su excentricidad se transforma en ternura.
Con su intensidad y su pasión hubiera sido perfecto. Su interpretación podría haber sido como un himno hacia el amor verdadero, un acto de rendición emocional que rompiera con su imagen inicial.
En resumen, "Say a Little Prayer" habría sido la elección perfecta para mostrar una transformación en Darius, un personaje que tiene el potencial de ser mucho más que el alivio cómico. Pero bueno, tal vez no soy objetiva: amo a Darius y, honestamente, Alfonso no me cae bien. Aun así, el Planeta del Amor merecía un momento tan poderoso y emotivo como ese.
I did this to support @trishabeakens as well as her own idea of what Porsha's Mother would be or would have been like. If that other person who ships Jimmy Crystal with their own oc doesn't approve of her, well then that's their problem.
Anyway, seeing what kind of relationship Porsha had with her "father" in the film made me think she would be or would have been much closer with her mom. And unlike her dad, Claudia would actually try to be more supportive of her daughter as well as being there to see her succeed.
