If you can let go of your self worth during your performances, you would experience the immeasurable joy that comes with making music. @begetmusic shares; Many times, most singers I have seen are always too conscious about their looks, they pay too much attention to their looks than the song delivery. I'm not saying you shouldn't look good, i'm not saying looking good is bad, but during your performance/ministration, your concentration shouldn't be on your looks. Some singers find it hard to express themselves in songs because they don't want to look funny. I have seen some talented singers with amazing voices but when it comes to delivering or performances they suffer. Some are afraid they'd appear ridiculous or stupid. They would not dance so that their make over isn't affected. They would rather stand in one position and sing but they won't perform the song. And when you don't perform the song you won't be able to give your best let alone connect to the song. Performance involves expressing the emotions in a song. Not just singing. There are some songs you can't sing without opening your mouth wide to sing. The same way they pronounce come shouldn't be the same way you pronounce lord.( shouldn't be) They would rather not sing out so that the shape of their mouth is not disfigured. And by so doing they swallow their articulations, these are one of the reasons the congregation / audience always say they can't hear the wordings of the songs. *Note* And do you know that once swallowing your articulations becomes a habit, it gets in the way of resonance, tone placement and other important singing mechanics. And no matter how much effort you put in you may not be getting the best result. Isn't it funny how you said to give God your all, After listening to the song and having learnt the lyrics BUT you allow the way you look hold you back from expressing yourself in God's presence and to his people?
