It had been months since he was told he'd been arranged to marry. While he had the chance to choose his own wife, apparently he'd waited too long and the council decided it was time to intervene. Technically he could decline, because the council didn't have real power over the private lives of the royal family. But that came with a lot of badgering, so he'd decided against doing it, at least right away.
When the woman could finally visit, he'd been told to be on his best behavior. He knew he needed to be, but having to be on his best behavior around every potential suitor had been why he hadn't dated, let alone married, yet.
Still, he was going to suck it up for now.
He may have intentionally taken longer at work than he needed to, though, and when he returned home, the young woman had already arrived and been escorted to the gardens, where she would be having dinner with him and the rest of the royal family. She was staying at his grandmother's side, and he couldn't tell what they were talking about as one of the staff approached to let them know he was home.
"Good evening." He gave them both a bow. When he straightened back up, his grandmother was giving him a look. "A pleasure to finally meet you, Miss Robin."
