School Headcanon #3
Xabi runs inside the school building and looks at the watch. It’s almost six o’clock. Well, with a bit of luck, the teacher will still be in the classroom. The invitation did say that the parents’ evening would end at six, so…
He finds Alberto’s classroom with some effort, because Alberto wasn’t able to tell him where it was. He also didn’t seem to be happy about Xabi asking.
The teacher is still there. Perfect.
“Hello,” Xabi says. “I’m sorry I’m so late, I got stuck at work.”
“How can I help you?” the teacher asks, apparently confused.
“I’m Alberto’s father,” Xabi smiles.
The teacher looks shocked. “You are not dead?”
Now it’s Xabi’s turn to be shocked. “Why should I be dead?”
“When I told Alberto I’d call his father, he told me his father was dead,” the teacher folds her arms.
I’ll kill him, Xabi thinks. “No, I’m not dead. But I suppose he will wish I were, after I get home.”
The teacher gives him a sympathetic look, then shows him Alberto’s records. Definitely he will wish Xabi were dead.
“Thank you very much,” Xabi says. “And I apologize for my son.”
“He can be a bit problematic,” the teacher smiles. “But it will pass.”
Xabi nods. When he’s at the door, he turns back. “Did he… tell you how I supposedly died?” he asks.
“He said you accidentally fell into a cement mixer,” the teacher says flatly.
No. Alberto will wish he was dead himself when Xabi gets home.
