I finished @luinrhofal ‘s Freedom Wars character profile sheet! Click to see the full view.
I’ll be using this post as a hub for Memes’ character meta from now on, so hit the jump for individual entries. Thanks again to 105 for letting me translate this profile into English, and thanks to all the friends who helped me with the translation process!
Here’s the blank template if you want to fill it out yourself. I hope to see more sinners soon!
Let’s talk about fighting styles today. Does your sinner use a specific style of hand-to-hand or close quarters combat? Are they more offensive or defensive? Do they favor a particular type of weapon or multiple weapons? Maybe they’re not so developed in that area and specialize in abductor combat or recon instead? Is there any history behind their training and/or personal brand of asskicking?
Memes’ combat stats:
Proficiencies: Command and field tactics, midrange combat, survival skills, battles of attrition
Deficiencies: Full-frontal assaults, solo abductor combat, sustained close combat, brute strength maneuvers
Loadout: Ea’s Knife, Arisaka mk. 2, EZ Nashorn IV/V
CQC style: Krav Maga
Memes is a top soldier, literally bred for war, and fighting for her is like breathing. When she steps out of the transport, Memes brings nothing to the field but a clear head and a grim, icy intensity. Always focused, 100 percent present, never raising her voice except to make herself heard above the din. This is the war dog in her element, and as much as she dislikes it, she knows nothing else.
Unlike most sinners, Mercedes Delfuego was not a late-childhood recruit or a mongrel from the Warren. She was bred, raised, and trained as an elite soldier of the Los Angeles Panopticon from the day she was born. LAPT can’t afford a large soldier program like other top ‘Cons, so its elite are trained to fight smart, stay alive, and take care of themselves and their team. What Memes lacks in brute strength, aggression and bravery she makes up for with pragmatism, resilience, tactical instinct and a strong survival drive.
Memes shines in a field officer role, and her teammates count on her to keep an eye on the action and watch their backs. She fights at mid-range, circling the field like a sheepdog and barking positions to her squad, using her burst fire to drop foes or force them into bad positions. In abductor combat, she lends ground support with her thorn and Nashorn, or nips at the beast’s heels with bullets and flash grenades. Her laser-sharp focus, cool head and environmental awareness make her a good sniper in a pinch, but she prefers a role that keeps her closer to her teammates.
Memes’ preferred loadouts are lightweight weapons that allow her to get around quickly, position herself advantageously and quickly adapt to the flow of battle. Even her Nashorn has several movement mods. She feels vulnerable using heavy melee or autocannons - weapons where she has to commit to her position, and can’t easily change tack. For Memes, survival is paramount, and she always wants the option to cut and run.
Memes isn’t much stronger than the average sinner, so she’ll use every dirty trick in the book to quickly end and escape from a close combat encounter. Her CQC is ugly, brutal and efficient, felling even the toughest sinners with her Ea’s Knife and thorn. However, she can be overpowered by prolonged melee, or those who combine her skill levels with more experience or brute strength.
By far, Memes’ greatest asset in battle is her strength of mind. She completely shuts out all background noise, compartmentalizes any personal issues, and goes hard for the duration of the fight. She never smiles or acts cocky on the battlefield, and only tolerates such behavior in people she knows can handle themselves. She sustains this intensity until she steps on the transport home, which is why she’s always so weary off-duty. Despite her exhaustion, she never really hangs up her captain’s hat, and continues to vigilantly look after her friends even off the battlefield.
