🔪?!
scariest/creepiest experience?I have a couple that are kind of tied??? And they’re both paranormal.
So the first one happened when I was about 16 or 17. It was at a friend’s house. Now, we knew this house was haunted. We’d been friends for over ten years at that point and we’d grown up hearing footsteps and voices in the house, seeing things out of the corners of our eyes, etc. We were used to it. We knew that at some point the house had burnt down and was rebuilt, so we always figured it was possible that someone died in the fire (we didn’t know for sure, just a guess). On this particular day, my friend’s family was getting ready to move, so a lot of rooms were nearly empty/packed up. We were hanging out in a room that had a couch, an empty glass display case that her brother used for collectibles (action figures, etc.), and a candle. We liked lighting candles, but my friend warned me that sometimes the flames would go out for no reason. We figured it was the ghosts, laughed about it, whatever. At one point her mom called her downstairs, so I was alone in the room. I was sitting on the couch and bent down (I think to tie my shoe or something???) when I got the feeling that I was being watched. I felt like there was someone standing behind me. The glass display case was in front of me, so I looked up at it and - I shit you not - I saw a tall figure standing behind me. It was dark, and I couldn’t really made out the features but I was definitely staring at me. I didn’t know what else to do so I just blew out the candle and went into the next room to wait for my friend to get back. The ghosts in her house never bothered me, but after that experience I was honestly super happy that she was moving.
The second time was also at a different friend’s place. My floors were being redone and I had to be out of my house for a couple of days, so I crashed at my friend’s apartment. She had just moved into the basement of her grandparents’ home. Her grandfather had Alzheimer’s, and she warned me that sometimes he got confused and wandered into her apartment. So, I got there late the first night and passed out on her couch pretty quickly. A few hours later I was kind of twilighting- like, not quite sleeping, not quite not. I had my eyes closed and was trying to fall back asleep when I felt a hand on my shoulder. Solid. There was no mistaking it; someone was grabbing my shoulder. Rationally, I figured that maybe my friend’s grandfather had come downstairs and mistaken me for her, so I turned to talk to him….and nothing was there. The feeling went away the minute I picked my head up, and there was absolutely no one there. My friend was still sound asleep.
I’ve had a few other creepy/weird/unsettling experiences, including watching a horror movie in a beat-up truck at a haunted maybe-gravesite and some brushes with not-so-demon-y sleep paralysis, but there are the two experiences that really stick out in my head.
