“NODAPL”
by Sintex
After almost two decades as one of the leading Detroit graffiti writers, Sintex has become proficient at a wide range of mediums and skills including spray paint, airbrush, illustration, graphic design, sculpting, and 3D animation. In recent years he has become increasingly well known for his portraits of indigenous peoples painted throughout the Americas. Straddling the border of North and South Dakota, the Standing Rock Indian Reservation became the center of national attention in early 2016 and protests escalated as the country neared election time. In September, 2016 Sintex’ beautiful mural of a Lakota child was painted at Orleans and Division Streets in Detroit’s @EasternMarket for the annual @1xRun curated @MuralsintheMarket, and continues to serve as a haunting reminder of the nation’s too-often shameful treatment of its original inhabitants. @sintexartist/
