Sircar’s Gift
My Sircar says "Take, take," but everybody comes to me and says 'Give, give.' Nobody attends carefully to the meaning of what I say. My Sircar's treasury (spiritual wealth) is full, it is overflowing. I say, "Dig out and take away this wealth in cartloads, the blessed son of a true mother should fill himself with this wealth. ( chapter 32. Sai Satcharitra. Baba's Sircar) Baba preaches us to reap spiritual wealth. He also says that it is available in abundance and there is no limit/ end to it. He is unhappy because we are not properly taking/using the wealth that his Sircar/God has given. How to dig out this wealth? Baba is saying "take, take" but we are saying "give, give". Many come to Baba to ask for material welfare i.e health ,wealth, relationships, success etc. But these same people also ask Baba for mukti, peace of mind and other blessings. Many have asked Baba to grace the poojas they perform, the spiritual readings they undertake and ask for mukti and spiritual grace. Then why should Baba still lament? What more does Baba want us to do? I give my own understanding here- Baba uses the paradox that when he says take, we say give. Baba is telling us that we are digging at the spiritual wealth in the wrong way. When we ask Baba to grace our pooja or to help us succeed in spiritual reading even then we are asking Baba to 'give' us . We are asking and we are asking only for ourselves or our kith and kin. Baba has never advocated any form of religious practices. He has said that while it shows us the path to God, mantra or fasting can take us to him. I believe what Baba wants us to do is say 'take, take'. I believe Baba is telling us Seva is the way to dig at the spiritual wealth. When we give to others, God giveth unto us. Seva can be of any form .We can give others health, wealth, happiness, knowledge. There is no age, rules, means, places or an end to giving. Through Satcharitra we find Baba gives us many examples of Seva. Annadhana, sharing the knowledge in the spiritual scriptures we read, financial aid, feedings the animals and other hungry creatures, lighting lamps, cleaning, giving shelter to needy etc. Any act done with kindness and an intention towards the welfare of others is Seva to the Lord. When we do Seva we get not only material or spiritual welfare. We beget blessings and the grace of Lord. We get whatever we actually need and not just what we ask for. We get material and spiritual abundance. We attain the feet of the Lord whilst still alive. Bow to the Lord Sai and peace be unto all.
