Why is roadhog the death card rather than reaper ? If you don't mind answering.
Ooooo! Well don’t get me wrong, Reaper does fit the death arcana. Death can mean a death, but it’s mostly change, for good or for worse. However, this was a mix of me being stubborn and not wanting to pick the most obvious character for the card (I’m very bullheaded ajsdkfh), and also there’s a big focus on the change from Gabriel to Reaper but that’s only one part of Reaper. The emperor card, I felt encapsulated both Reaper and Gabriel. “You’re up against real power, so yield or suffer the consequences.“ Like if that ain’t Gabe/Reaper I don’t know what is. It’s so direct and just don’t take no shit.
As for using Roadhog instead, the dude lost his home to the omnic, Australia was totally beyond salvation and with it he lost his sense of humanity. He better captured death’s sense of death and change when Mako stopped existing to become Roadhog.
TL;DR, Reaper is in some way still Gabriel. However, Roadhog is no longer Mako.
