i saw your cartoon recs post while looking for stuff to watch! i noticed it's a couple years old so i was wondering if there were more shows you'd wanna add that i might like? i watched everything on your old list but to give you an idea of what i mainly look for, my favs from your list are SP (mostly the eps w Butters though!) and GF! lately i've been in the mood for humorous stuff but nothing overly pessimistic/gloomy. generally i dislike M-rated cartoons, except SP bc it's nostalgic for me.

It's been a hot second since I've actually watched cartoons. My job has been keeping me very busy, and I've mostly been playing video games. So I won't have as many as last time, but I will do my best to give some new cartoon recommendations.

The Owl House and Amphibia are two new popular kids on the block, but I actually have not had the time to watch them. However I've heard countless good things about them and they are on my list of "shit i want to do later." So hit those shows up for a good time.

Infinity Train. Holy shit this show. Words cannot express how interesting this series is. It's deep, funny, tense, and full of that spicy emotion. At least watch Book 1/Season 1 to figure out if you like it or not. The next books/seasons do get progressively darker (book 3), but the show does make an effort not to end on a sour note. It's a wonderful balance of children's cartoon with topics for adults. It's not an "adult cartoon" but a "cartoon that adults can enjoy." It also has a cute as hell robot so what's not to love?

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated. Somewhat old, but still super good. It's like infinity train in that it can get very heavy while remaining family friendly. Probably one of the best/better takes on that series. It's got an over arching plotline that's actually finished, character development, sassy Velma, and a lot of story beats that will surprise you. I will say that there are elements that can get very annoying such as Fred being a MASSIVE idiot, several repetitive story bits, and some details of the monster of the day going unexplained. Other than that, still worth the watch for the deeper story and twists of season 2.

Beastars. This one isn't exactly a cartoon, but I'm throwing it in here anyway. Yes there's the memes about it and blah blah blah. I still enjoyed it quite a bit and the graphics are pretty sweet. Beastars is a very dark story and does NOT make a point to hide it. It's one of the more dreary series on this list but it still has moments of humor and the world is interesting. One note tho, if you're under the age of 16 you should probably skip this one. It's rated M for a good reason.

More pokemon fanfic ideas

I’m going to say this right now, since I’m publicly sharing these ideas they can used by anyone. No one has dibs on these ideas. So no one gets to whine if two people write the same idea.  Alright these are two darker ideas, and if written out these stories would be very long. 

I thought of how Colress made a machine that controls pokemon. Then I remembered Expansion Suit from X and Y. My mind went, “what if you combined them?”

1. Someone (Maybe Colress or maybe someone else) makes a human suit that will allow control over a trainer who wears it. By extension, the person commanding the trainer will have full control over the trainer's pokemon. The suit gets sold to evil team leaders that are still pursuing their goals (So probably Ghetsis, Charon, and Giovanni). 

They capture one of the protagonists, and puts them in the suit. This means now have control over one of the skilled trainers that ruined their plans. If you’re following what happens in the games, that means that trainer will have a legendary pokemon or even multiple legendaries. The controlled trainers wreak havoc over the regions with their best pokemon and things quickly turn for the worse.

How does everyone fight back? I came up with two ideas. 

The first one is that a new hero emerges and fights to free the controlled trainers. 

The other idea is that the supporting characters, rivals, gym leaders, pokemon professors, elite four, the champions, the trial captains and ex-team members all work together to strike back. 

This second pokemon fanfiction idea is a bit more on the horror side, but I can only picture it with a very specific setting. I will include a link to a horror movie trailer at the end of this post. 

2. Many pokemon characters (protagonist trainers, gym leaders, rivals, elite four, basically ANYONE you want) are invited to a celebration/ritual in a small region. The region is very rural, and a bit isolated. The rural setting lets the pokemon run around and play. Even the legendary pokemon are allowed to be outside their pokeballs. Everything starts out fine, but then things start to get weird. 

From here, I’m going to put things under a spoiler just in case.

The characters learn of the two region legendary pokemon, known as the “bloodbath pokemon” and the “hivemind pokemon.”  You can make these pokemom look like whatever you want, but there are certain traits I want for them. The “bloodbath pokemon” is mostly red and black, has a multiple mouths, and is more violent than Giratina. The “hivemind pokemon” is mostly gold and white, has a lot of eyes, and hundreds of wire appendages. 

The longer they stay, the worse their situation starts to get. The day of the ritual/celebration is getting closer. There are signs that something very bad is going to happen, but they can’t leave. The native people are showing a lot of interest in the trainers who have captured legendary pokemon. 

This next part could either be discovered by 1-2 characters before the day of the ritual/celebration, or could be kept secret until that day.  The celebration/ritual is a sacrifice. A sacrifice of legendary pokemon and their trainers to the native legendary pokemon. It’s up to the writer who dies during the sacrifice, or even if no one dies during it. However, consider what would happen if this was interrupted. These two dangerous legendary pokemon descend on the land and go on a rampage. The visiting characters can try to capture these two legendary pokemon, or (the idea I am up with) since these native legendaries have a difficult time existing in the physical world they possess two characters and carry out their rampage like that.
