The bond of sisterliness is what makes sororities in general, and Alpha Kappa Alpha in particular, unique. It is this characteristic which sets sororities apart from women's organizations formed around common interests, such as gardening or bridge, place of residence, social position or interest in a common cause. Sisterliness, like democracy, is both a reality, imperfect though it may be at times, and a goal to be constantly sought. -Marjorie H. Parker
