ghkdsjfhgkdj ah yes it’s time to answer my most frequently asked question aka ‘who are kiku and kou????’ 

they are my ocs!!! kiku is a prince in edo period japan, kou is the palace healer. kiku has a big fat crush on him 🥺👉👈 but bc of class differences, among other things, they cannot be together,,,,so it’s a lot of pining and yearning from afar. 

(art by @hinamie) this is kiku!!!! *bursts into tears* my boy,,,,my sweet prince,,,,i love him more than life but if you’ve followed my blog for like 0,3 seconds you’d know that. he likes to sit around and contemplate about nature and poetry and has a minimum of three existential crises throughout the day. he’s very jittery and anxious but he’s doing his best 🥺💪 him soft like marshmallow,,,he is the biggest sweetheart around and i love him dearly. he wishes he wasn’t a prince, and then he feels guilty about that, bc wouldn’t anyone want to be a prince?? he can have whatever he wants. he lives a life of luxury. but kiku realizes he doesn’t really have what he wants......which is to be with his healer......and run away and live a quiet life in a cottage by the sea......then he feels guilty and selfish for even having such thoughts........it’s a constant battle between ‘i shouldn’t complain’ and ‘i want more’ and ‘i have everything’ and ‘it’s not enough’. kiku really is a disney princess....he would have his own ‘i want’ song. i want so much more than this life. i want to go outside. i want to go where the people are. i want to fall in love.

(first art is by @viria, second by @hinamie) this is kou!!!!! he’s iconic, if i do say so myself. i love him loads! he’s the blind palace healer. he’s very flirty, but in the most respectful way, and he’s oh so gentle with his prince with his ‘accidental’ scrapes and bruises. along the way he ends up figuring out that kiku ‘accidentally’ hurts himself just for the excuse of having to come see him. kou thinks it’s very amusing, but he knows his boundaries, so he doesn’t push. kou ends up falling in love with his prince very slowly, compared to kiku’s outright infatuation. he’s his one constant visitor, coming to see him almost everyday, and he always asks him questions about healing and medicine. soon the visits from his prince turn from healing a wound to having tea and talking through to the evenings. sometimes kiku brings him tiny gifts, like a beautiful comb or a cup. his initial amusement about kiku gradually turns into soft affection, and when he takes his hand to bandage it he’s very aware of how soft and small it is, the way their fingers brush, and kou realizes he’s kind of fucked, because this is the prince, and he can’t really do much beyond this. cue many secret midnight meetings in the gardens and a lot of yearning 🥺🤍

for the last 9 months i’ve been writing a vampire au for them, where kiku is a vampire prince and kou is a demon and vampires and demons have bad blood between them.....but that doesn’t stop kiku from yearning for a certain demon.......and wanting to drink his blood......the ultimate taboo.....😳👉👈

YEAH LIKE,, im so sad i got into vld fic towards the latter end of the show but i remember reading ur fics and just. curled up in bed and having sm fun bc they were just so! fun!! and reading them n then coming on tumblr n seeing all these cool authors n people n their writing and art and just!! aaa!!! i remember little baby me got so excited bc i was like omg i can read the hindi words slipped in this is the best thing ever holy shit. and yeah i miss it. vld sucked ass lol but fanon was SO fun

fanon really was the best part, the fans took the barest outline provided by canon and just. ran with it and made a far richer world than the showrunners ever imagined. the quality of the fanart and fanfics is way higher than I’ve seen for most other media, it’s wild

also thank you I’m glad you liked my writing! when I first started mixing in hindi words and some desi and muslim stuff I was like hm this is dorky people are gonna roast me for it but it turns out.....people like seeing their own language and culture represented in fiction........who knew
