FIRST LOOKS at KALEIDOSCOPE WORLD

Hello, everyone! You've all been amazingly patient, and I really appreciate you sticking around and taking a look at everything. If you didn't catch the new ad, I'm pleased to announce that we're ready to announce our site's name... Kaleidoscope World.

There were only the great diamonds and sapphires and emerald mists and velvet inks of space, with God’s voice mingling among the crystal fires. There was a kind of wonder and imagination in the thought of Stone going off in the meteor swarm, out past Mars for years and coming in toward Earth every five years, passing in and out of the planet’s ken for the next million centuries. Stone and the Myrmidone cluster eternal and unending, shifting and shaping like the kaleidoscope colors when you were a child and held the long tube to the sun and gave it a twirl. —Ray Bradbury, “Kaleidoscope” from The Illustrated Man

Our title is borrowed from the Chills; “Kaleidoscope World” was originally released in March 1982 on the Dunedin Double EP by Flying Nun Records. It was chosen for its colorful portrayal of outer space, which reminded us of the Bradbury short story, “Kaleidoscope.”

You probably already caught our FIRST PREVIEW of the site's header up at the top of this post... But let me introduce you to the dark version as well, for those of you that prefer the shade...

I can't tell you how excited I am to share these with you—and so much more to come! Accessibility features... member group colors... navigation... and much, much more! Our wonderful designer is hard at work building with color, pulp, and accessibility in mind, and I'm just so giddy to show you everything she's got. But first... I'm taking a trip. In fact, I'm driving through the great state of Ohio tomorrow—and I'm sure I'll be thinking of Earth the whole time. I will be back this weekend with more to share. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to ask any questions or send me notes about what you would really really most like to see next!
