Once the board content has been read & reviewed, you will need to message staff (via discord) to be able to register - if you wish to proceed with joining us (i.e. on-site account registration will be temporarily disabled during soft-open, to avoid players signing-up preemptively before reading board content / lore / rules + then deciding the site is not for them. We want to avoid ghosting-account clean up, so interested players will still need to msg admin via discord if they want to proceed)

Darkness falls across the land, the midnight hour is close at hand. Creatures crawl in search of blood to terrorize your neighborhood. And whosoever shall be found without the soul for getting down… must stand and face the hounds of hell, and rot inside a corpse's shell.

Nocturnal (80s supernatural roleplay) / Sub-plot teaser; "Late Night Programming"

Birchwood local television has never been anything to write home about. Sure, the tv ranges could still get some of the national channels to keep up with worldwide events - but otherwise, it was a mix of local news, public access shows, roundtables, cartoons, and advertising.

But what about late night programming? For anyone who happens to be a night owl… perhaps flicking through the stations between the hours of 1am and 3am? The average citizen would be inclined to believe that there would be nothing worth watching at that hour. After all, most of the Birchwood residents would be fast asleep in bed.

What is (perhaps) more unsettling are the interjection of "public service announcements" or "local alerts". These are a bit more rare, and not as frequent as the occasional misplaced advertisement. But when they appear on screen, those who are (un)lucky enough to witness one may not know what to make of it. There is certainly no way to check their authenticity, or source.

From medications that you might never see on the shelf at the drugstore, alerts for missing people, strange 'children's programming', weather warnings, etc.

After all, why would someone run these warnings when the residents are not awake to see them?

Nocturnal

This roleplay starts in 1983 (taking heavy inspiration from media like 'Stranger Things', 'It Chapter 2', as well as some classic 80s films). We will follow along with characters who reside in the town; some who grew up here, some who may have only recently arrived - as they try to live their day-to-day lives amidst the bizarre mystery and spooky happenings in town. The question is whether or not these events are entirely supernatural... or the product of experimental 'fringe' science by that Lab outside of town. The seasons will come and go as in real time - and players should keep in mind the limitations of technology (and it's resources) in this era, which will surely add another level of fun and excitement into plots, and the looming danger!

Member-Group: "Abnormals" Anyone classified as a 'Abnormal' may have gifts that are NOT the result of experimentation. These individuals may have more natural abilities; some, might be born with a gift (psychics) - others have worked to learn a gift (occult/witches) - and some simply have a gift bestowed upon them (vampiric).
