AU Rambles: Branch
Branch in my Sith!JD AU is a young Jedi Padawan.
His grandmother was helping a Jedi Knight who had fallen ill when their village was attacked by a large Bergen raid. The Knight could not defeat the Bergens while sick, but was able to barely escape with a 4 year old Branch.
After growing up in the Jedi Temple, 12 year old Branch is a taken as a Padawan by Jedi Master Delta Dawn. She is very supportive, and helps him keep his natural paranoia from getting out of control.
Branch has a Padawan brother in Hickory, Delta's first Padawan. He's not in the Temple as often, but they get along well.
At 15, on a mission that should have been simple/easy, Branch's Master is attacked by a Sith looking for a fight. Master Dawn tells Branch to run of course, but when she is injured he jumps in to try and protect her instead. And that's when JD recognizes him!
Branch is very confused why this crazy troll has gone from trying to kill them to hugging him/crying. He barely remembers HAVING any siblings! But JD has pictures, and stories, and the more he talks, the more Branch remembers.
Branch is horrified to learn his brother not only Fell, but went all the way to being a full Sith Lord. He feels responsible, as thinking all his brothers were dead was the reason JD Fell. (Branch, no. You were a baby, don't feel guilty, it's not your fault!)
When he gets home, Branch immediately looks for any information he can find about Falling, and more importantly, coming BACK from a Fall. His finds are not encouraging...FINE! If there's no method here to save his brother, he'll invent one himself! He's going to get stronger, capture his brother, and give him ALL the therapy!
And so begins the story. JD is NOT willing to go through rehab, but stops attacking Jedi to avoid upsetting Branch (though any Jedi that attacks him is fair game to kill, and he loves trying to provoke them into giving him an excuse), and instead visits often whenever Branch is off Corusant.
A year later, newly Knighted Creek is captured by criminals/tortured. He Falls to the Dark Side. He attacks Branch, but has no lightsaber and is captured. Instead of taking him into custody, (and either high-security prison or execution) Branch calls the one person he knows can use the Dark without being consumed by it. His brother is surprised, but willing to take Creek as an Apprentice to keep him under control without locking him up completely. Branch continues working on his rehab plans, now with the goal of defeating JD and drawing him/Creek BOTH back to the Light.
A years after that, the Clone Wars begin. Branch becomes a commander under General Delta Dawn. He doesn't tell JD right away; he knows his brother will lose his shit about it. Then he gets trapped by enemies, and has to call for help.
JD arrives using his ships Hustle feature, slaughtering the droids with extreme prejudice. Then Branch/JD have a screaming argument. Somehow, Branch wins. He can keep participating in the war, but JD is now sticking close. A Jedi and Sith fighting together quickly catches a lot of attention.
JD splits off whenever they're on Corusant to avoid arrest attempts (emphasis on attempts) and let Branch relax at the Temple. So he's not there when they get called before a very concerned Chancellor Palpatine. Oh no...
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Branch is 15-17 for most of the story. He still has mostly bright colors, having recovered from going Grey much faster with the Jedi's help. His ears are still droopy though. He wears light brown Jedi robes, with a leafy scarf worn as a belt (from Floyd). His hair grows upward, except for his Padawan braid [BRAID ART PENDING] behind his right ear, with 4 beads and 1 colored cord. He caries a blue lightsaber [LIGHTSABER ART PENDING] with a fish charm on the belt clip that he got from JD.
OTHER FACTS: Branch mostly practices Ataru, and is learning some Niman. His favorite missions are escort/guard type, especially when he protects Senator Poppy. His least favorite missions are anti-piracy ones that make him interact with Barb's crew of lunatics. The fact that they kinda like him is NOT a bonus.
