“What is happening to me lately? Where is my mind?” This C-3PO figure is a nice upgrade to the previous 6” version, however, due to the elbow “pistons” he still isn’t as well articulated as it’s TVC 3.75” counterpart, but that might even be movie accurate. Said movable pistons were introduced with the 6” 4-LOM (formerly known as Zuckuss) figure and it’s good to see that they now seem to have become the elbow articulation standard for protocol droids in the black series (which I official no longer collect, only parts of me don’t seem to know that). 3PO’s hind head plate is removable and allows certain “droid smiths” to fiddle with his programming. The plate comes off nicely and also fits into place perfectly and sits tight enough to not constantly fall off. The Babu Frik “figure” is super tiny and its swivel shoulder joints allow for limited arm movement. The hands are molded in a way that Babu could hold some accessory (like a tool from Kenner’s vintage Maintenance Energizer “mini rig”) and one is tempted to try it out only to realize fast, that he simply is too tiny for that. C-3PO also comes with Chewbacca’s Wookiee bow caster and ammo bandolier, which both does not really look fashionable on 3PO. The bow caster seems to be a bit smaller than usual although I can’t say for sure as I no longer have a 6” OT Chewbacca figure for comparison. 3PO’s hands are molded in a similar way as most other figures, so he can use the bow caster and pull the trigger. At the same time, the way his hands are molded, limit 3PO’s expressive body language. His eyes seem to have a slightly darker color than usual but are not the red eyes we see in the movie, once his programming got overridden.
