Han Solo (Trench Coat, but without the Trench Coat). While the lack of the Trench Coat is an obvious let down, at the same time it adds to the appeal of the figure for me, as it brings back the memory of the naked Endor Han figure from Kenner, when you had IG-88 wear the Trench Coat instead. You didnât do that? I certainly did so many times back then. After all an assassin droid has to hide its droid nature sometimes and Hanâs Coat seemed to fit Iggy just fine.
But this is not about the silver droid, this is about the latest Han figure and it is pretty but comes with its flaws. Considering that Han doesnât wear the Trench Coat that much once the Rebels creep around on Endor, it may not be a flaw after all, but I do dislike the rubbery legs which feel as if they come off when you pose them. The hip joints are otherwise quite tight and the soft legs do not provide enough leverage to make full use of the joints. Needless to say that the holster doesnât help the situation but thatâs a given with every Han figure. Another issue is with Hanâs eyebrows. They are there somehow but if you donât take care of the lighting Han ends up easily without any eyebrows. Makes me wonder if it was a good idea to upgrade all my TVC figures to newer face print versions. Anyhow, this is probably the definite modern version of Han with Endor Outfit with the only item missing being the Trench Coat, but luckily they recently also re-released the TVC Han figure with Trench Coat so you just need to buy that one on top. And in case you canât find him, I am sure there will be still some VOTC Han figures peg warming some comic shop somewhere, where you can borrow the trench coat from.
On another note, the red background, as chosen by Kenner on their original cards, does indeed make the figure look much better than Hanâs usual Kenner background color, green.
