Consumable pseudocyclical time is spectacular time.
As the mass of commodities becomes increasingly absurd, absurdity itself becomes a commodity.
[The spectacle] is nothing more than an image of happy harmony surrounded by desolation and horror.
The spectacle is the bad dream of a modern society in chains and ultimately expresses nothing more than its wish for sleep.
From being the site of alienated labor and passive consumption, the city was reformulated as the locus of a potential reciprocity and community, the crucial spatial stake of any project of radical social transformation.
The situationists and the city, 3
Introducing Cody on Drums
Well not many bands start off the bio section with the drummer, except Genesis, but they are Genesis with Phil mutha fuckin Collins. We do things a bit different around The Situationalists camp, and he was the first one to submit his info. So let's have a little look into the world of Cody Kniceley, shall we?
Cody was born near a state mental institute, actually they were called insane asylums back then, in Weston, West Virginia. Don't even bother, we have already wore out all the WV jokes, it doesn't really take long. When he reached adult years he joined the Air Force, which anybody that has met him after he got out would be completely caught off guard by this, doesn't strike you as the type.
Anyway before he was old enough to take orders from the man he developed a particular distaste for Dream theater, in fact if any member of that band are reading this, he asks that you walk yourself into a very slow churning meat grinder and record your screams so he can get pleasure from your death over and over. Well, not really, but if you'd never play another note and burn your back catalog, he'd appreciate it.
On the other hand, he has this rather strange love affair with Tenacious D, how strange you ask. How much love? Well if either of those guys end up reading this know that you got handies for life all for the asking, before you throw that out the window as some fanboy obsession, we would like to remind you, he is a drummer, they tend to have a strong grip.
Out on the road he tends to survive on gas station burritos, pizza, and pretty much anything a minimum wage employee can shove through a window, but if there is a Dairy Queen near by be prepared to stop. He won't eat food from their drive through because he wants to go in, and he will be in that fucking place long enough to eat, take a shit, eat another meal and then hit an ice cream or two. Part of the upcoming tour plan is to avoid anyplace with a DQ or we will be late to every show.
In his down time he likes to geek out. Pretty much we also have to avoid any city were there is a current ______-Con or we will lose him to it, and somehow he always has some full on fucking regalia to wear to the damn things. If you want chill time with Cody all you have to do is start bringing up some tiny detail from a Sci-Fi graphic novel, any of them, and you pretty much got yourself an all night conversation.
Back home with his lady he is all M.A.N. , a typical evening involves warming up to anything with unicorns, big titties, and rainbows, followed by some stretching involving some impressive Burt Reynolds poses; Tenacious D playing in the background. We had to get rid of the band copy of Under the Rainbow, he could NOT focus knowing it was just laying around going unused.
Cody's goals of the future is to tour the world making the rock n rolls music and being cranky, fat, bald, sweaty and horny by age 55. So there you have it. That's our drummer, no two are alike but this one is ours.
The Situation Part 3
After returning to Anchorage after a pretty fantastic week in LA. I start making calls and figuring out a little fun time touring. After putting together a basic plan I phoned Nick. He was pretty stoked so plane tickets were arranged and the bands I felt would be the best fit were lined up. I also got on the phone with my friends Lowell and Cody from Men With Guns about providing some support if Nick felt like plugging in and jamming out. Not only are they a good band, but both had experience doing sit ins and can pretty much play on the fly. The next month and a half is filled with pretty boring stuff, the work part of making something happen, so I will spare you the details and tell you about the bands that were selected for the bill.
Dante Manalo
Dante was selected as the opener, he plays ukuele like no other. Most of all, he is really cool to hang out with. Check him out.

Filthy Dirty Dead
They are crazy, from Eastern Alaska and did I mention crazy. These guys like a good time, it's acoustic horror punk and probably the fastest you've ever heard an acoustic guitar sing. Did I mention they were crazy. You have to check them out.

P.J. Franco and the Burnouts
This duo is made up of PJ on drums and Alexandria on bass. If there is anyone that could give Nick a run for his money, it's Alex. In fact it became a tour joke that Alex isn't allowed to go to LA because she would put too many bass players out of a job. The girl has some skills. P.J. is a drummer that also has chops and puts on a good show, combine they are pretty bad ass and you need to check them out.

More bands to talk about next time.
The Situation Part One
The story of The Situationalists Part One by Philthy Phil
I met Nick Oliveri about 10 years ago in Germany. My friend Big Rock had brought the opening act for Motorhead , Slunt, over to stay at me and my wife's house for a couple of nights. While hanging out with the band at the show Nick approached us and asked if it was cool to come hang out. So we hung out and shot the shit. Later in the morning I got up and put on a Raw Power album, Nick got up and instantly recognized hearing a band he loves, and I am glad to call friends. So having that in common we agreed to keep in touch. I would randomly dial him over the next couple of years.
We decide to move up to Alaska, it'd been a few years since I'd been in touch with Nick. After a few years in Alaska my friend, who by this time I considered a brother, Big Rock was killed in a carbon monoxide accident and I went to L.A. To attend his memorial. I met a bunch of folks, but it was a two day trip so I didn't get to know people a much as I wanted to, so I returned some weeks later for a proper visit. I found Nick Doing an acoustic at one of the bars that was part of Big Rock's memorial services just weeks prior. It was a chance meeting and the beginning of the next chapter of this story.
