Lukyanenko: "Yea, I'll mention trans/non-binary..." Forever astounded by how often he writes in LGBT (among other) things.
Everyone gets the feeling sometimes that what is happening just at the moment has already happened before. There’s even a special term for it: déjà vu.
“I suppose I ought to thank you for the compliment”
(Sergei Lukyanenko, Day Watch)
Sometimes I think that if wolves and sheep were rational creatures, a significant percentage of the sheep would be found deliberately and voluntarily helping the wolves.
Sixth Watch, Sergei Lukyanenko
“Anyway, I don’t understand these vampires.” Las sighed. “Okay, back in the Middle Ages, if you wanted to suck a bit of fresh blood, without any syphilis or plague, and without any pockmarks or scars—then children were the only ones you should feed on. Not nice, of course, but logical. But now, in this day and age, why suck a kid’s blood? It’s laced with chemicals. All those low-alcohol cocktails! Nicotine! Burgers made with palm oil! A crazy amount of sugar from cola. Synthetic drugs. Dill and parsley smoking mixtures! Inoculations! Sheer poison!”
Sixth Watch, Sergei Lukyanenko
The contents glinted with a reproachful yellowish shimmer, reminding me that eggs and milk are foodstuffs of animal origin. Well, I’m sorry, all you unhatched chicks and calves deprived of milk, but we humans are predators.
Sixth Watch, Sergei Lukyanenko
so close to finishing sixth watch
but maaaaaaan i dont wanna finish it
Anton is like. legit one of my fav protagonists and one of my fav fictional characters. Up there with Harry. Sometimes I like him even more than Harry since he’s even more sarcastic and shameless and, you know, without all the trauma and angsty stuff that comes with poor darling Harry’s package
He’s so flawed and his transformation through the six books is just so enormous and mind-blowing, but what he has retained through all of this is what makes his character even more moving.
I remember writing a frustrated blog entry while in high school about how Lukyanenko turned Anton into a Higher Other via miraculous plot device and he hasn’t been the same since. That’s true, but upon rereading I’m finding the new Anton just as intriguing and endearing, though in a different way. He’s grown callous like all people do when they grow up, but even then, there is something unique about him, an underlying tenderness and sensitivity that he’s choosing not to show.
I just don’t want to see him go.
haven’t finished the whole book yet but
gosh why is Ellie so cute
I cannot
I demand more Ellie
You cannot just leave the series like this Mr. Lukyanenko
