Yes!!! You absolutely may!!! SkekTek is absolutely baby and I love him oh so very much!!!
Also! Little bit of an angst warning? Nothing too bad, just talking about low self esteem and all that kind of thing.
SkekTek is one of the more quieter and withdrawn skeksis, but with very good reason. We all know just how bullied he is by his fellow skeksis, and that’s taken quite the toll on the poor man’s self confidence. What he is confident in however, is science. Science doesn’t hit you, yell at you, insult you, or make you feel like a lesser being. Science is the constant that stabilizes his life, and he’s very attached to his profession as a result.
It’s more than likely that if you’re human, he was the one that brought you to Thra. Accidentally, of course, but his experiments have a habit of going in strange directions that no one really expected, least of all the scientist. Not that he minds, gives him something else to study!
In the lore it states that SkekTek has done a ton of experiments on his own body, so it wouldn’t surprise me if his nervous system was kind of fucked as a result. I think he experiences a lot of chronic pain in some areas, and chronic numbness in others. But don’t get him wrong, he absolutely melts when it comes to physical affection.
He’s by far one of the hardest eggs to crack. His walls are all built up thick and high, and he won’t let just anyone into his long closed off heart. So it’s a difficult process to try and gain his trust, but not impossible. And once you’ve gained his trust, his heart, and his affections- you’ll have yourself a partner for life.
The key is to listen to him. Don’t talk over him, don’t scoff at him, don’t give him any odd glances, just sit and listen to him gush about his experiments. Let him bounce ideas off of you, rant to you, tell you all the thoughts that are wizzing through his head all at once. He’ll be suspicious at first, but he’ll eventually warm up and find comfort in your presence. Eventually, he’ll even encourage you to talk about the things that excite you, the things that get your heart pounding and your eyes to light up.
That’s what gets SkekTek to fall in love with you, the shining glimmer in your eyes when you talk about something your passionate about, the animated movements of your hands and the excited barely-restrained laughter tinging the edges of your voice. It warms him all the way down to his core and he finds himself unable to look away, his old heart stuttering to life and beating away in his chest as he looks at you with a mix of wonder, awe, and fear.
It would take him the longest of any skeksis to confess, if he ever even does. Like I said, his self esteem has been absolutely destroyed after years and years of being treated like garbage, so he really and truly doesn’t think he has a chance with you. He’s terrified of losing you, of ruining the relationship he’s so carefully cultivated with you, so he’ll likely never tell you just how deeply his feeling run.
That’s where it falls on you. You’re going to have to be the one to take the lead if you want to romance SkekTek, though I really suggest that you work up to it rather than dump it all out on him all at once. Start with small gestures, gifts, lingering touches, small smiles and whispers of affirmation. Slowly warm him up to the idea that yes, you do like him romantically. And that no, you’re not too good for him.
Eventually, when you feel like you’re both ready, you’ll be able to tell him how you feel. And trust me, he’ll be absolutely overjoyed. That is, when he’s done short circuiting and internally screaming about the whole situation.
Give this man plenty of cuddles and casual touches. Doesn’t need to be anything risque or even explicitly romantic, just little touches that let him know that you’re there for him and that you really and truly love him. You can expect many warm nights of cuddling and soft, chaste kisses when you’re in a relationship with Tek.
