skeptikitty replied to your post “So I am applying to a few REUs (research experience for undergrads) but my gpa is low (freshman year was a mess), but I have been in a research lab for 2-3 months and my prof said I've done more work in the lab than the girl I replaced did in 6 months, and I'm also a TA so I have chemistry experience. Do I still have a chance of getting in a program maybe? And how can I really boost my personal statement? I still don't know what I want to do.”
Get letters of recommendation from everyone you TA'd for and the supervisor at the lab. May still be hard to get into a program, but having people back you always helps.

Canadian Health care isn't without its flaws, but it's pretty awesome. You never have to worry about choosing between groceries & seeing the doctor. If you aren't well or if you get hurt, you get checked out; but sometimes you have to wait.
Yup. That sums it up nicely.
