Skills for Learning Resources and Skillability Workshops
One of the ways the library and your liaison librarian can support your learning is with improving and enhancing research and academic skills. These can include time management, planning, information handling, evaluating and analysing information, search skills and strategy, guidance on using research tools effectively and much more.
Culture students may have attended specific library sessions arranged for your module given by your liaison librarian, Annika. These should help you get started but you can always find more help in person at the library, by email, online at the Skills for Learning pages or by booking a Skillability workshop on your chosen topic(s) on-campus or online for off-campus students.
So far this academic year there have been 80 Culture subject skills sessions held with the content ranging from Induction, Introduction to Library Resources, Dissertation Support, Project Research and specialist sessions such as the recent 'Using and Handling Primary Sources' for History students and 'Using Discover for Language Research'.
Library webinars are designed for students who are studying away from Sunderland, so whether you're a distance learner, or a student studying at a partner college overseas you'll find our webinars useful.

Whether you're a new student wondering how to get started or you just need a bit more help, the library is here to support you.
Throughout the year the library will be running a number of webinars for distance learners as part of our Skillability programme.
