Custom Complexion & Skin Modding Workflow
I know I go overboard with my characters skins but I find to get the best detail I need to add them to the diffuse. This is the most recent skin I made for my Skyrim character Frigg.
The neck is from Mature skin as I use their body texture, I use a low opacity soft round brush to delete the neck portion from the Bijin face. I added some skin details & pores from Mature using high pass & overlay. I also add some eye bags & eye wrinkles using this method.
After that I start to work on contouring the face by adding blush, highlight & contour/shadows. I wanted Frigg to have a strong nose and high cheekbones so I use overlays and soft light layers to contour the face. All these layers are done with a soft round brush with low opacity, layers are either soft layer, overlay or hard light depending on how strong I want the the effect. I also adjust the layer opacity and fill when needed.
Then I add details like moles, freckles, veins and tweaked the lips (some assets from RWOS used) and darken under the eyes.
Once I am happy with all that I add dirt, scars & tattoos to finish.
UGH Tumblr nerfed the quality of the gif, you can view it here on imgur.
