Make-Up and Skincare Magic
The art of convenience.
Makeup and magic. Inherently combined, thanks to the history of the treatment of women (although as someone who isn't a woman I love makeup, and not saying it's exclusive to women). Makeup is a disguise, an enhancement, a transformation, a defense, a form of self expression, an art, and a skill.
The most obvious thing here is colour magic. Every colour has a psychological and spiritual connection, some personal and some universal. In the pallet above, for example, we have quite the variety of colours. The black could be seen as protective, the purple as a psychic boost, the gold to bring in finances. That's very simplified and generic, but you get my point. The type of shadow can even have meaning and symbolism behind it (matte, shimmer, metallic, suede). Where you apply it can even have it's own meanings.
Lipstick may let you speak with confidence, eyeshadow might let you "see" things in a certain way, so on and so forth.
The way you apply things can also be magical in nature. If you're someone who uses foundation, sigils can be drawn using it and then blended into the skin. You can also use moisturizer or things of similar consistency.
Speaking of, it's not just makeup.
Skincare has it's own uses.
While it may be a matter of your personal correspondences, or well-known correspondences, skincare is full of ingrediants practitioners will recognize. The type of skincare can have it's own meanings behind it. It doesn't particularly matter, since a lot of magic isn't a stickler on ingrediants (my personal craft just has a focus on it).
Thayers toner isn't great for sensitive skin, which I luckily don't have. The witch hazel base is lovely, and it comes in many different editions. I have the rose edition, because of its connection to glamour magic and beauty in general. I also have quite the heavy bottle of rose water from rosense.
The lotion (it's a liquid, it follows a very old definition of lotion) on the right is divine. I love the smell and what it does for my skin. Again, not great for sensitive skin. I'm a lucky witch since I love scented products. I use this tonique before large rituals.
Some brands have very... interesting products.
Yes this is a rose-scented gloss with rose quartz chips inside. Not just that, but the roller ball is made from rose quartz so it's cool on the lips when you apply it. I was as excited as you can imagine I was. Immediately this was shoved under the moonlight on a friday during the hour of venus. It's one of my favorite products otherwise, actually. But you can find a lot of things like this, thanks to the (mildly painful) increase of mainstream witchcraft.
I hope this wasn't too long of a read, and gave some of you ideas. A lot of things in this manner rely on the witches personal preferences and beliefs, but its definently not something to brush off entirely. Makeup and skincare magic is one of my favorite simple ways of practicing.
