It occurs to me that I need to get around to designing Liam's power armor. He has a set from the BOS that he "forgot" to return when they exiled him for ghoulification and in the ten years since the events of FO3 he's customized it quite a bit.
Btw Nathaniel and Rosetta actually named him Seán because Nate is Irish. The spelling of "Shaun" is an Institute thing; just one more way that they stole him away from his parents.

Like. This is a man who grew up poor in Massachusetts and joined a militia based on early Colonial ideas/aesthetics.
It just feels like people can't comprehend being rural without being distinctly "Southerner stereotype." (And after a while tastes like some flavor of classism to me, ie "all rural people are the same.")
Like. I'm a rural New Yorker. Our rural culture is VERY different from the rural culture seen in southern and midwestern states. And for example South Carolina and Texas also have very different rural cultures. Even the food (HEAVILY influenced by Black culture) is vastly different.
Massachusetts specifically has lot of maritime industry, from giant port cities to tiny fishing villages.
Just. Remember that rural people exist in the Northeast too, and someone wearing a wide-brimmed hat does not mean they're a cowboy.
Learn about the history of hats. I'm 100% certain that Preston's is meant to be a slouch hat, commonly worn by historical military. One side being pinned up is a dead giveaway. It's not a cowboy hat.

I am so so tempted to mess with the timeline for my canon and have Nate and Rose's escape from Vault 111 be weeks earlier than ingame.
The main thing stopping me is there would be various characters (like the rest of Squad Gladius and more people from Quincy) still alive if I did that and with zero info on them beyond their names I would be effectively cursing myself with dozens of new ocs to juggle and I don't wanna do that to myself.
But I may mess with timeframes in other ways because it's not just Nate and Rose doing things but also Charlie, Liam, Attrition, Union, and Sally. All of these ocs have agency and move around independently throughout the Commonwealth.
So certain events may unfold differently
