questioon! is scram's hooves any useful for mid-air combat?

Not really. His front hooves (with canards attached) simply control his pitch and his back hooves just hang there. The only combat ability Scramjet has is whatever weapons he has mounted to the underside of his wings at the time.

so could his sleep being a way to prevent overheating?

Nah, under normal circumstances he wouldn't overheat anyway. It'd be bad designing if he did!

watching older brother play ace combat, assault horizon, and it kinda pains me when he tries to recover from ramming into the ground and ricochets.

So the plane rams into the ground, ricochets and keeps flying? If so, that's bad game design. :/
