Skulker is entirely capable of flying on his own, like most ghosts. However, usually he uses built-in rocket thrusters on his suit instead. Why is that?

I have a few possible theories.

He's heavy. Perhaps it takes extra effort for him to fly normally.

The rocket thrusters allow him to go faster, allowing him to catch up with his prey.

Maybe the wings make him more aerodynamic?

None of these theories are canon, of course. I'd love to hear what you guys think the in-universe explanation for this is!

A Glitch In Time Made Skulker A Cannibal

In Life Lessons, Skulker has a cage of ghosts, and talks about planning on feasting on one of them for dinner.

Here's the specific ghost he's looking at when he says that.

Meanwhile several years later in A Glitch In Time, it's established that ectopi used to be human.

Notice any similarities?

Tentacles. Jagged mouth. Even the lines under the eyes of Skulker's "dinner" resemble that of the ectopus drawn in A Glitch In Time, as well as the ectopi shown in the first episode of the show, Mystery Meat.

While the tentacles may be more realistic and less wispy, this does seem a lot more like an ectopus to me than a normal ghost octopus. It's the mouth that's most notable to me-- a real octopus's mouth is on its underside, and the specific placement (and jaggedness) of the mouth is what causes me to identify this blobby ghost as specifically an ectopus.

In conclusion, the comic A Glitch In Time retconned Skulker into being a cannibal. Or is it a cannibal when the thing you're eating has existed so long it's lost its humanity? Does Skulker even care?

Seeing as his main goal in the show is to skin a human child and hang said child's pelt up on his wall, I sincerely doubt he cares in the slightest.

This is probably an accident, as I doubt the writers of the comic remembered this one specific moment from Life Lessons, but despite that, it is entirely in-character.

What happened to Skulker's weapons in Prisoners of Love?

Let me say this first- I know this show isn't consistent. Technus is in his mech form in this episode when he should be in his 1.0 form. I don't think the writers thought of explanations for half the stuff they did.

But this blog is about in-universe analysis, not out-of-universe analysis, so let's get going.

In the episode Prisoners of Love, Skulker doesn't have access to his weapons, despite being in his mech suit. He's seen having to use the guards' weapons against them. (Or just brute physical force!)

There isn't anything in the prison that blocks ghosts' abilities, as the Lunch Lady is still able to summon food. Besides, as we see later in Micro Management, Skulker's mech suit is unaffected by things that would block ghost abilities.

However, I have a theory.

Here is a helpful diagram of where Skulker's weapons are located, indicated in red. His gauntlets and his arms, mostly, although some come out of his belt.

In his prison jumpsuit, Skulker's gauntlets have been notably removed, and so has his belt.

What's more, the other areas weapons are located are all covered up, blocking the weapons from deploying.

In conclusion, I believe that the in-universe reason Skulker does not have his weapons in Prisoners of Love is because they were either confiscated or restrained.
