     a  lie  ,  perhaps  ,  but  his  loneliness  is  shrouded  by  this  desire  ,  no  ,  this  fueling  drive  for  vengeance  .  it’s  palpable  on  his  tongue  even  now  in  the  midst  of  a  simple  conversation  and  yeah  he  can  say  something  simple  ,  something  that  borders  along  the  lines  of sweet  ,  so  he  attempts  it  ,  the  look  in  his  gaze  nearly  softening  along  the  otherwise  hardened  edges  ,    ❛      at  least  ,  maybe  not  now      ❜

It was not often that he felt unequipped to handle something, yet here he was, his back to the floor and utterly outmatched. They’d managed to inject him with something near the beginning of the fight, and now it was finally taking its effect. His balance was off and his senses weren’t cooperating. Things were fading in and out, scents and noises appearing and disappearing. It ruined his vision of the room and the people in it. He could block one strike from behind and completely miss the next coming directly to his face.

It was like he was blind, and that was terrifying.

He managed to hear the gunfire though, and ducked behind the nearest cover until it ended. Poised, weapons at the ready, despite his disorientation and the beating he’d already taken, Matt stayed ready, prepared to pounce the instant this new assailant rounded his corner.

The familiar smell of gunpowder, dog hair, and Frank made him marginally relax. Punisher he might be, but Matt at least trusted him to be less hostile than the people he had been fighting. Uncrouching, he paused a moment before holstering his batons, a wary sort of truce.  

“You better not have killed them...” he managed, lilting into Frank’s side for support despite his chastising tone. He couldn’t hear any heartbeats beyond the other man’s own surprisingly steady one, but that could easily have been because his senses were still going haywire.

“put the gun away castle,” elektra said, glancing over her shoulder at him. the wind caught her hair, tangling it in the dark night. “i’m not who you came here tonight for anyways, why waste both of our time,” she said, especially because if it came to a fight she would win. “i didn’t know you’d started to put politicians on your kill list. or are we here for different prey?”

THERE’S  A  CIGARETTE   between  her  fingers  that  she  doesn’t  remember  pulling  out,   and  she  mentally  curses  johnny’s  name  before  tossing  it  to  the  ground  and  digging  her  heel  into  it.  by  this  point,   though,   frank  is  several  strides  ahead  and  she  has  to  jog  to  catch  up.  

shortness  of  breath  is  apparently  a  side  effect  of  dying,   because  she’s  panting  when  she  reaches  him.

 and  the  thing  is   ------she’s  pretty  sure  he’s  just  trying  to  wind  her  up,   and  while  v  has  never  thought  of  herself  as  particularly  gullible,   she  can  already  feel  herself  rising  to  the  challenge    ------as  if  she  just  can’t  help  herself.
