Confusion bubbled in their brain as the defeated man flopped back into bed. Their blue eyes widening as they realized that Tim had in fact, convinced himself that they weren’t there. The one that Jay nicknamed,”Skully,” And the one that possessed Jay’s body. Well, not possessed, more like shared.
Jay had gone mute once they had arrived at the motel, probably in shock after seeing Tim, especially since their last interaction in real life five years ago was...unpleasant. Jay was still guilty after attempting to stab Tim with a knife, Skully guessed.
Skully gritted their teeth as the cold rain poured onto his worn clothes. Their breath began to condensate on the inside of the mask, making it more uncomfortable to breathe. They removed the mask to take a deep breath of humid cold art as they began to make their way to the side of the motel.
Pain manifested itself into Skully’s abdomen, right where Alex had shot them. They took a breath and kept going, trying to remind themselves that it was nothing. Skully tended to get phantom pain there when Jay was trying to wake up. Skully ignored him and made their way to the front of the motel.
Skully has memorized everything that Tim had been doing for the weeks that they have been watching him. Skully has even forged a copy of his key, which granted them access to Tim’s room. Skully knew when Tim usually went to bed, when he woke up, when he woke up to use the bathroom, how often he left, and many other things.
Skully would sneak into Tim’s apartment every couple of days to take some of his pills, they took a small amount each time to not make it too obvious. They had also been squatting in the motel closet, mostly because it was a good spying place and Tim never used it.
Jay murmured something, but Skully could not hear it. Skully knew they had to confront Tim eventually, especially since how low he’s gotten lately. Waiting for Tim to eventually off himself wasn’t going to help their cause very much. Yet, Skully couldn’t do it, the combination of Jay’s guilt and Skully’s avoidance of social interaction and confrontation made it impossible.
The screeching call of a hawk outside ripped them from their thoughts, they looked around cautiously and entered the motel with their mask tucked into their sweatshirt pocket. They greeted the receptionist, all of the staff believed that they were also staying with Tim, because of the frequency of their visits and the belief that Tim had given them the key.
They entered Tim’s room as fast and as quietly as possible, trying their best to not stir Tim from a medication induced sleep. Skully noted the smears of blood and what appeared to be vomit on the floor as they slipped quietly into their space into the closet.
They slowly pulled the door close and as soon as Skully got close to closing it fully, Tim shot up like a bullet, looking around frantically. Skully nearly fell backward out of shock as Tim began to whisper something under his breath. Skully stood frozen, quickly realizing that Tim hadn’t seen him and had woken up from some night terror.
Tim’s dark brown eyes were wild with terror as he rolled up into a ball on his bed, sobbing unintelligibly to himself while simultaneously coughing his lungs out. Skully watched, blue eyes wide with the knowledge that Tim probably wasn’t going to last much longer, his mental state was like a bomb that was about to go off. Skully knew that it was their job to defuse the bomb, no matter if Skully was too scared to approach it. It was either to defuse it, or let it explode. Skully knew that if it exploded, Tim wasn’t going to be the only person that dies.
No, Jay Merrick, this is all your fault.
Stop telling me, “but the Operator did this.”
You were the one who got the tapes.
You were the one that dragged Tim Wright back into this hell.
You were the one looking for Alex, and answers.
And you were the one that got shot.
And I am the one that saved your life, be grateful you moron.
Found you
Everything is fine.
No it’s not.
Found a mask under my bed that I don’t remember having, okay then.
That’s my face.
When you started to see the Operator, I started to form like parasite in your brain.
You kept running.
and running.
That is not the answer, the masked one’s other self knew how to cope, but you ruined it.
The events you called,” Marble Hornets” I laid dormant and nonexistent. Just the little voice in your head tormenting you.
I know nothing, but I also know all. You, Jay Merrick, I know that you are a coward and a liar.
I’ll be in control for a little, so you stop messing everything up and making everything worse for yourself.
I’m in your closet, you get up to use the bathroom, you don’t see me.
You think,” How long have I been in this motel? Has it been days, weeks?” You can’t remember.
You seem concerned, worriedly texting Jay’s phone, hoping he’ll respond and reassure you that he’s alive. No one texts back.
You cry, wondering if you’re going insane and this is all a dream.
You take some pills and fall asleep.
You didn’t notice me.
Why isn’t the masked one waking up? Did I do something wrong?
