we all complain about how lifeless the trees in the forest look since they have no leaves or branches. but then i thought, what if there's a reason for that?
so here's what i propose: the trees are all dead or petrified as a result of the shattering and are unable to grow new leaves and branches. the light blooms could be proof of this, since they look like mushrooms, and mushrooms love to grow on and near dead trees
i also have the headcannon that the valley is in a permafrost or arctic state for the same reason
