Time for dinner at world’s most famous floating restaurant.

‘Good Morning, Del Sol Valley!’ Brad Fixbury smiled to the camera facing him. The show was officially live and running. ‘We’re here today in Good Morning, Valley with a special guest. A young photographer who knocked the world off its feet with her unusual shots. And she’s barely began! Darya Bjorgman herself is here with us in the studio. Hello, Darya.’

‘Hi, Brad.’ Darya waved at the man awkwardly. This whole live interview thing turned out to be way more difficult than she thought. She just hoped that she didn’t have the stress written all over her face.

‘It’s good to see you, Darya.’ Brad continued with his huge smile glued to his face.

The interview below the cut as it got hella long.

‘You’ve just won a first prize award for the photography contest. Can you tell us more about the contest itself and about your work?’

‘The theme was city architecture. At first, I wasn’t sure what I want to capture exactly. I have taken many shots, and eventually decided to go with the photo of the San Myshuno bridge.’

‘Why did you chose that bridge?’

‘Well, first of all, San Myshuno is one of my favorite cities in Sim Nation. I just love the architecture and the cultural diversity. And I have plenty of good memories from there. As for the bridge, I just think that bridges are a symbol of connection. Between worlds, between people, between everything in this life. As well as a symbol of great architectural progress. I mean, it’s not exactly easy to build a bridge.’

‘Yes, you’re right. So would you say that architecture is your favorite theme?’

‘No. I have taken part in a few contests so far and I believe that there are many more to come. The architecture was just a theme. I’ve also submitted my work for the sea life contest. And I’ve done portraits as my private project. At the moment, I can’t choose my favorite theme. There are still so many to try.’

‘So you’re keen on exploring.’

‘Always.’

‘What inspired you to become a photographer in the first place?’

‘I’ve always had a great appreciation for art. My eldest cousin is a painter. She was one of the very first people that I have photographed. My first portrait. I guess I learned that appreciation from her. But painting is not for me. I want to do something more modern. I love working with my camera and then editing the photos. Painting is too old-school. But luckily, my wonderful parents gave me a camera for my birthday, and I’ve been using it for years now.’

‘Is your family supportive of your work?’

‘For now, it’s more of a hobby rather than actual work. Although, I’ve done some commissions. But yes, they are very supportive. My relatives were my first models and my first clients. They constantly encourage me to continue working on my skills. Even today, my sister, Skye is here, cheering me on from backstage. Of course, my mom would prefer me to go to a university but she understands that I have a different plan in mind.’

‘What plan is that?’

‘After I graduate high school, I want to move to San Myshuno and open a photography studio there. Hopefully, I’ll find my favorite theme by then.’

‘How do you manage to take such great photos?’

‘Well, I never give up. I take dozens of shots until I am satisfied with the result. I try to follow the rule of thirds to get a really nicely divided photo. And to focus on the key elements in there. I can’t really explain the process. Symmetry is one thing. But luck is another. And I tend to get pretty lucky with those contests.’

‘Have you signed up for another contest yet?’

‘Yes. There are many of them. The next one that I’m going to work on is simply water-themed. It gives lots of options and I have many ideas already.’

‘Lastly, what advice would you give to aspiring photographers like yourself?’

‘Never give up. Keep on working, even if you feel like your shots are not as good as you would like them to be. Think outside of the box, and try not to repeat the pattern. Photography is a piece of art and nobody likes repetitive art. If you want to make it big, create your own, unique style.’

‘Awesome. Good luck with that contest, Darya. It was so nice having you here. I hope we’ll see each other again some time.’

‘The pleasure is all mine. Thank you, Brad.’

Darya decided not to waste any time. Vivian was reluctant to leave so Darya eventually grabbed her girlfriend by her arm and led her to the door. After that, she headed straight to the bathroom to take a long, hot, relaxing bath.

When Skye returned from her drama club meeting, it was finally time to tell her the amazing news. The girl was practising her lines when her elder sister approached her with a grim expression on her face.

‘I’ve had an argument with Vivian.’ Darya shook her head lightly.

‘Oh, sorry.’ Skye put down the notes and focused on her sister. ‘So, what, is it, like, over now?’

‘No, it’s not over. I still care about her. I just wish she was less selfish. Or maybe I am the selfish one? I don’t even know anymore.’ Darya sighed.

‘I’m sorry, D. I wish I could offer you a better girlfriend but I don’t exactly have those in store at the moment.’

‘You little-’ Darya giggled. ‘You always know how to lighten my mood.’

‘What can I say, it’s not easy being the perfect child and the perfect sister.’ Sky shrugged, pretending to be modest.

‘You know, I happen to have some awesome news for you, too.’ Darya brought up the subject. ‘I won the contest!’ she exclaimed.

‘That bridge contest?’

‘Yes! And the best thing about that is… Drumroll please!’ Darya chuckled. ‘We’re going to Del Sol Valley together!’

‘What?! No way!’ Skye shook her head. ‘I must be dreaming!’

‘Absolutely not! I will be having an interview in Good Morning, Valley and then we can do anything we want!’ Darya exclaimed, full of excitement and good energy, all over again.

‘Wow, that’s awesome! We’re going to Del Sol Valley! I can’t wait!’ Skye began jumping in one place. ‘And that’s why you’re my favorite elder sister!’

‘I am your only elder sister!’

‘Exactly!’ Skye laughed.

Dianna led Darya and Skye to the highest floor in the whole building. She opened the door for the two and they found themselves in a big dressing room.

‘This is Angelica and Judith - our best make-up artists.’ Dianna smiled at the two women. ‘They will take care of your hair and make-up. I hope you’ve taken some clothes to change into, as instucted in the letter?’

‘Yes, I did.’ Darya nodded. ‘Before we begin, can I just say that I really appreciate being here and taking part in this interview. It is a really great opportunity for me. And I sure hope it’s not the last time.’

‘Well, I hope so, too. I am glad we can help make your dreams come true, Darya. Now, we must begin the preparations. We’re running out of time.’

Darya just nodded and sat down at the chair. Angelica and Judith began working their magic, while Skye was observing the whole process with admiration.
