Of course it had to be her. Of course Azrael had to be the one to deliver this news to Mia. --- It was only natural; after all, Cody was her charge. She raised him up and swore to protect him. It was clear that, in their own ways, Mia loved Cody as much as Azrael did.
It was late at night -- Az wasn’t the best with keeping track of human time, but she knew it was late by the emptiness of the area as she stared out the window, since she was inside.
In Mia’s house, to be specific.
She’d done it several times before, but she was usually there for Cody.
This time, there was no Cody. It was just her. -- She was there for Mia.
Mia soon came through the door, tired from a day of work. The angel almost felt bad that she had to speak to her at a time like this, but it was urgent. -- Something was wrong in the plan, and it had to be set straight. Some other angels told Az to manipulate Mia, but she could never do that to someone Cody loved so much.
She had to tell her the truth.
Petite hands, which had previously been wringing themselves together nervously, popped out in front of her so as to show she didn’t mean to alarm Mia. -- Of course, she hadn’t given the young woman a heads-up that she would be visiting, but she was there now, so she didn’t really see a point in making a huge deal of it.
“I am sorry to intrude like this.” She stands up slowly from where she had been sitting, petite frame moving towards Mia. “-- But we need to talk. It’s about Cody.” A pause.
