X-Ray: How’s their health? Any problem areas? Do they take care of themselves?

nico has the survival skills of someone who went homeless for nearly four years, so the most he knows how to do is keep himself fed and stop the stench from getting too bad. not to say that he’s a slob– he refuses not to be– but he’s not always the best about it, either. he tries to keep himself bathed and fed, but it’s easy for him to forget, used to going without for so long. this has gotten better in recent days, with a more permanent home (camp halfblood), but it’s hard to break those kinds of bad habits once you grow into them.

as for his health, he has a myriad of scars on his body, mostly from fighting monsters or training with the undead. (skeleton warriors don’t exactly hold back if you ask them to train you, even if you are the son of the lord of the dead.)

Yack: What’s their favorite thing to talk about? What do they go on about?

although you’d have to catch him in a good mood to actually get into the topic, nico still has an uncanny amount of knowledge about mythomagic stored in that lil’ noggin’ of his. he mostly gets this outlet out now through talking about mythology in general (he and annabeth can talk about the history of ancient greece for hours), but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still capable of going off about the stats of his favorite cards or what the most optimized decks are for certain situations. (he totally doesn’t still keep up with mythomagic or anything…)

Zodiac: What’s their astro sign? Does it fit? What would you pick, if it’s unknown?

nico is an aquarius! not much is known about exactly when he was born (it was about 84 years ago), but aquarius is pretty well-suited to him, imo. he’s definitely petty and dramatic enough, lmao. someday i’ll do a proper natal chart for him…….

Vice :: What bad habits do they have? Is there something they would be ashamed of?

Byakuran has… a lot of bad habits. Most of them relate to overindulgence! Food, alcohol, expensive things, he’s a god and he wants to live like one. He definitely has no shame in his indulgences, as he has a hard enough time without denying himself what he wants.

Far worse, though, is his bad habits with people. Using them, manipulating them, tossing them away when they’re no good to him anymore, he recognizes these problems but he goes back and forth on whether they’re anything he wants to attempt to fix. Overwhelmingly, he has been proven right every time he has gone against his better judgment and trusted someone. Overwhelmingly, he has been disappointed, betrayed, written off. Overwhelmingly, he has been proven, in countless universes, that using people is the best option for him.

Insomnia :: What’s their sleeping schedule like? Snorer? Sound sleeper?

His sleeping schedule is ‘whenever he likes,’ but he keeps pretty steady! When he’s ‘sick’ (which is to say, when his connections are becoming a nuisance) his sleep is more fitful, and he gets easily irritated when he can’t sleep, but otherwise once he’s out he’s out. Cuddling partners, watch out!! Byakuran’s got a sleepy death grip.

X-Ray :: How’s their health? Any problem areas? Do they take care of themselves?

Oof, health is a tough one. I was gonna say “let’s stick with physical because with mental we’ll be here all night,” but fact is, his physical problems are entirely caused by his mental ones, one way or another. Some of his health problems are psychosomatic, sure, but no less present as a result. And others are a result of the huge toll it takes on his mind, and subsequently body, to just exist as Byakuran. His health comes in waves, both mentally and physically.

As for caring for himself, in spite of his extreme sugar intake (it helps with the energy expended, really!!), Byakuran’s diet is very balanced, he’s physically capable and doesn’t get winded easily, and he’s got a lot of energy! He’s also very careful with medicines– in fact, he hates most medicines, usually only accepting herbal remedies and the like.

☼ If they had the choice to be immortal with one other person, who would they choose?

Honestly, it depends when he’s asked, how terrible a mood he’s in when he makes the choice. The good answer is, of course, of course, Yuni! She makes him happy, he likes to think he makes her happy, they care about each other deeply, and he is so terrified to lose her. But he isn’t sure she would accept, anyway.

And if he makes the decision while he’s in a bad mood. It’s Shouichi. They’re bound together for eternity anyway, across the universes, Shouichi is the person Byakuran let closest to him even when he knew it could lead to his downfall. There is nothing he would like more than to make Shouichi suffer for his sins, forever.

★ Do they have a favorite scary movie? Book? Show?

Media of any kind is actually really difficult for Byakuran to get into. Horror doesn’t bother him any, nah, of course not, it’s just… watching a movie, or reading a book, it’s just adding more stories to his endless cacophony of stories, it’s just adding to the confusion of all the shit he has to sort through as is. He already has to worry about accidentally bringing up something Kikyo from one universe said to a different Kikyo, etc., so he really doesn’t like adding in fiction too.

He was well aware of the boy’s tendency to get into hellish trouble wherever he went. “I’m all ears, then! How does our little hero intend to save the day this time?” Pleasantries and little hellos could wait-- he was dying to hear this one.
