Towards the back ends of 2013, Tigerbags began to stock the fun range of children’s luggage from Skyflite. A fun range of animal shaped backpacks and trolleys for your kids. It is a range that I have specifically taken a liking to, and as Tigerbags’ marketing manager, I wanted to share a review on the product, to try and explain to you exactly why I have begun to favour it above the other products we have in our Tiger Cubs range.

I believe that the first thing that I need to do to explain about the product, is to give some specific details about it, and then give you a transition into my personal opinion on the items.

The Skykidz range comes in eight different animal shaped styles Dolphin Donkey Frog Hippo Lion Penguin Polar Bear Tiger They are sold in a set of a backpack and trolley together (RRP £75, but available through us for between £49.99 and £51.99). The trolley weighs 1.9kg and it’s dimensions are 48x35x25cm. It has a telescopic pulling handle with adjustable sizes, that makes it easy for your child to pull their own luggage along when they are rushing through the airport, or for you to take over for them when they get tired. The smooth inline skate wheels make for a flawless and bump-free wheeling. The backpack weighs 0.7kg and it’s dimensions are 33x26x17cm. The back of the backpack is padded so you don’t have to worry about your child having plastic banging on their back all the time. This is part of the brilliant design, to make sure that your child is comfortable on their travels to your holiday destination, or even on their way to school. They are both made from a hard shell lightweight polycarbonate that is made to be shatter proof. The set is decorated with matching images on both items.

Both the backpack and the trolley have an internal lining for a sleek and clean finish. This also allows some room of movement inside, without the items that you are carrying banging against the outer shell. This will help keep the shell from shattering.

The set is designed so that when you finish with it, the backpack fits inside the trolley perfectly so that it can be stored away without taking up huge amounts of space in your cupboard. You can see this function in the size differences from the picture below. We know that Skyflite work hard to design all of their luggage sets for efficiency both when you are using it and when you are not using it.

You would need to check before you fly, but the backpack and the trolley are suitable for carry on luggage. This fits in well with the efficiency of the product.

As you would expect, the backpack has adjustable padded straps that can be resized to perfection for your child. We understand that every child is always growing, so it’s not like they will out grow this backpack.

So who is the product for? Your daughter; your son; your niece; your nephew; your friends child. Children. And they love it. And why should you get it for them? Again, they love it. Traveling and holidays can always be an issue when traveling with young children – but if we can make those journeys any easier, then that’s what we will do for you.

What are some of the added factors? Well, alongside the lined casing, the trolley has a zippered divider on one side that has easy access. It doesn’t have huge amounts of space inside but it does have room for your favourite toys and a pair of shoes. It’s a nifty little addition – but don’t expect too much of it.

An issue that you may find with the item is the hard shell, polycarbonate case. It is a brilliant idea and allows the artwork to be displayed and will protect any items within it. But the problem is that unlike all soft backpacks that can be folded up and stored away to a greater extent than just putting the backpack into the trolley, the set can take up quite a lot more space. Whilst this isn’t the biggest issue – it is definitely something to consider before purchasing.

To be frank, the kids love this product. It is stylish, it is fun, the backpack can be used as a school bag and in some cases, they will even use it as a toy. Depending on their favourite animals, or even their favourite colours, there is a lot of availability for this range to be fun for them. We know of a few customers and clients who have had a browser screen open on their computer when their child walked into the room and immediately wanted to have one of these products. All in all, this is the reason for the product. Whilst the protective nature, easy storage and use as cabin luggage are great features, the main reason for the item is to please your child. That is why I particularly endorse this item – because it does the job.
