WHAT is that god awful screeching I hear every day? Just when it seems like I can start getting some peace and quiet it's like a fork running down a chalkboard. Any suggestions on powerful earplugs at least?

SKYQUAKES AND MYSTERY BOOMS
On July 4, 1808, while trailblazing the Rocky Mountains near what is now Great Falls, Montana, explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark experienced an instance of the unexplained booming phenomenon known as skyquakes or moodus noises. They wrote in their journal:
“Since our arrival at the Falls we have repeatedly heard a strange noise coming from the mountains in a direction a little to the north of west. It is heard at different periods of the day and night, sometimes when the air is perfectly still and without a cloud, and consists of one stroke only or five or six discharges in quick succession. It is loud, and resembles precisely the sound of a six pound piece of ordnance at the distance of three miles.”
From East Haddam, Connecticut, also come reports of sky booms. Recorded reports of the explosive sounds began in 1791; however, oral tradition dates them much earlier. Occurrences also took place in 1805, twice in 1812, and again in 1813. Sounds resembling cannon fire or muffled thunder have happened throughout the ages and around the world. Stories of these sonic anomalies have been passed down as legend and folklore. Modern mythology links them to UFOs and parallel universes.
A rash of skyquakes occurred from mid-1977 to mid-1978, when over six hundred separate "mystery booms" were heard along the east coast of North America, from Nova Scotia to South Carolina. The campus of the University of North Carolina was shaken by a boom that rocked the ground and measured 1.1 on the Richter Scale. In the small town of Rogersville, Missouri, a huge unidentified blast rattled windows and blew open storm doors. On the other side of the country, thousands of houses thirty miles southeast of Los Angeles were rattled by two mysterious booms occurring five minutes apart.

soooooo I live in an area that has these frequent, unexplained ‘SKYQUAKES’,
nbd, just shockingly loud booming sounds that shake your windows and wake you out of dead sleep and no one knows why. Experts all have their hypotheses; could be objects entering the atmosphere breaking the sound barrier, denied/unofficial military activity, collapsing of underground caves, etc...
so, anyway that’s a good ‘ol time.
