[ INTERRUPT ]  for shorter muse to stop during the middle of a conversation and stand on a chair/sit on a table so they can be eye level with the taller one. 

"Yeah, the lacrima messed with all that like I'm assumin' your magic did. Well -- it waited 'til I went into.....?"

Laxus trailed off as he saw Wendy hold up a hand for him to wait, scampering off to the nearest table to grab a chair. She pulled it to a stop next to him, but before he could move to sit in it as he was assuming she'd ask, she hopped up onto it herself, standing on it to get closer to his face.

"There are easier ways t'do this, y'know...?"

But he let her push his lip back to look at his sharper canines, with only a little further grumbling.

Wendy: I think you're still suffering the effects of your party last night. Laxus: All I drank was Redbull! Wendy: How many? Laxus: Eighteen.

Laxus: Do you care if I take the skin off this Furby? Laxus: I want to make him a god. Once he is free of his sinful flesh, he can begin a path towards enlightenment. He will take care of us. Laxus: I also want to softhack his circuits. Wendy: I literally could not care less but never say anything as frightening as that ever again.

On instinct, as soon as he felt the pressure on his shoulder trying to urge him back down he growled and turned a glare that way. He fully expected to meet Porlyusica's scowl glaring right back at him, not...oh. Wendy would've been closer at hand if something like this happened at the guild, of course she'd be here.

It made sense, he realized after a second, the growl dying in his throat as his glaring eased off into a mostly uncomfortable look before he looked away. Guild clinic, but the team were gone. Good. At least they wouldn't see him in this state. He sighed through his nose, forcing tension out of his frame as he let her guide him to at least sit back against the wall, instead of trying to leave. One hand unconsciously went up to the scar over his eye, fingers brushing against it before he caught himself and it dropped to his lap.

Already done with all that, don't bring it back up now.

"...sorry," he muttered at length, his look when he glanced back to her equally apologetic and pleading. "Hate bein' cooped up in here." He knew it was a long shot, considering the last thing he remembered was sitting at the bar and he definitely wasn't there now, but he couldn't not try to plead his case to at least go home instead of staying here.

"Whatever that was, I think it's--"

Not done with him yet. His voice cut off mid-sentence as he winced, a closed fist thudding against his chest hard to force another ragged breath out. Everything from his throat to his gut felt like it'd caught on fire in that half-second, from skin all the way down to bone. Breathing in felt like sharpened ice in his throat, back out felt even worse, and he could've sworn he felt something twisting between his ribs. He didn't need to see anyone's reaction to know how bad this looked -- as much as he wanted to say something, anything to try and brush this off, it'd fall as flat as a joke at a funeral.

...bit of a grim thought, there. He just hoped it wasn't on anyone else's mind. Laxus fidgeted with his other hand in the blanket at his waist, just trying to do something to focus and keep conscious, this time. This spell was bad, but it'd pass.

The words echoed in his mind as he pushed himself to his feet, glancing around at...wherever he'd ended up. He remembered Makarov, Fairy Law, and then...nothing.

Well, not nothing, but nothing he could make sense of. Brief flashes of light and scared faces, too far away, and something that looked like claws.

He'd really messed it up this time, hadn't he?

Something at the edge of his hearing caught his attention and he spun around, the moment of panic quickly fading. A familiar face, for once.

"Hey, Wendy -- you guys alright? Where are we--?"

[Claws hitting armor and tearing through. A voice -- his voice but not, snarling so loud as to shake the ground below it. Ringing in his ears and red at the edges of his vision, fury beyond all reason, a storm made manifest.]

He froze as memories started to clear up, going to one knee as his senses tried to process both past and present, both human and... something else. It was as disorienting as the implications of those memories were terrifying -- and ordinarily, he would have pushed it aside to worry over later. It was just what he wished he'd done, right?

But the other dragon slayers had experience he'd never know, had knowledge no one had taught him. They'd actually lived with dragons, learned directly from them...

Maybe she knew something about all this. Maybe it was from the lacrima, and he had nothing to worry about after all.

His expression is all mischief, but there's a different sort of smile in his eyes. He definitely appreciates the reassurance, even if he doesn't say it plainly.

Laxus looks at this kid and he knows she can handle herself -- and that Charle is a great partner for her -- but his first instinct is still protect this one with your life. It's not much different for anyone else in the guild, nowadays, but he's more conscious of it. He thinks it'd be fun to do a combo attack with their magics again, like they did against Zirconis after the Games, but he's not sure at all how she feels about him in return. Also really admires her healing magic.

He's...honestly very glad she joined AFTER the Battle of Fairy Tail. Even if he wasn't around, when he did come back it was one of the few things that felt normal. He...was kinda convinced he'd just scare her, though, so he kept his distance for a while.

Laxus has absolutely stopped random flying objects from hitting her mid-brawl. Sometimes he tries to pass it off as unintentional, sometimes a bottle will just get zapped before reaching her and it's very obvious.

He feels like he's able to speak to her easier than a lot of the rest of the guild, and isn't as likely to pull his grumpy 'it's nothing leave me alone grr' bullshit with her as he is with most others. He may not tell all, but he'll be less vague about it.
