Nap Time (AKA, fluffy drabble to brighten a day <3)
He hadn’t meant to fall asleep while waiting for Dark to meet him - it was just something that tended to happen whenever Link sat down for more than a few minutes. Within moments, however, the brunet had dozed off as he leaned back against the trunk of a tree, and not even Kaiser’s curious squawking as he explored the surrounding area would rouse him. In fact, it wasn’t until he felt a brush against his head that the boy stirred, the sensation of slender digits in his bangs pulling him back to the surface of consciousness.
Dark seemed to be lost in thought at first, for he appeared not to have noticed the fact that a set of blue eyes were gazing at him sleepily - it wasn’t until one of Link’s own gloved hands reached up that the silveret seemed to jerk back into awareness, ruby eyes wide as he stared at the hand now clasped over his own. A groggy smile was given to the shade in an attempt to reassure him, but stammered words nonetheless slid past Dark’s lips.
“S-S-Sorry, I wasn’t- I didn’t mean t-to wake you!” Link felt the hand beginning to pull back, and the scarlet flush colouring Dark’s cheeks told the brunet that he was likely intending to flee. It might have been for that reason which the hero’s hand found itself grasping a pale wrist firmly, a gentle tug instead pulling Dark down to sit next to him.
"It’s okay…“ came Link’s soft murmur, words soon followed by a yawn. Before Dark could move to try and stand, to escape into the woods, the brunet found himself leaning over, lowering his head to rest against the shade’s lap. The other felt stiff beneath him, perhaps anxious. He needed to fix that.
"Could you… do that ‘gain… ?” When Dark gave him a questioning look, Link’s hand shifted to guide the shade’s own ivory appendage to his forehead, where slender fingers had been previously shifting brown locks. It was then that understanding dawned on the other, for he seemed to relax now, even as pale digits curled gently in his bangs. The content sigh that escaped him seemed to be enough to calm his double further.
And as he drifted off once more, perhaps because he thought Link to be asleep again already, the boy felt what had to be a thumb running softly over the apple of his cheek.
