What do you call the four sides of the love square in the Scarlet Lady AU? Like, I have no creativity when it comes to ship names.

Also is Adrien attracted to Kagami in this AU or are they just friends?

Marichat/Adrienette are same as canon

ChatGold for Marigold x Chat Noir and Goldrien for Marigold x Adrien.

Adrien acknowledges that Kagami is very pretty but is too head over heels for Marinette to do much with that information, especially since his love life isn't as hopeless as it was in canon when Kagami was introduced. It's the same for Marinette and Luka where she acknowledges that he's very cool and cute but her love life isn't hopeless enough for her to seriously consider trying to move on from Chat Noir.

Marinette's in a larger struggle than Adrien though because Luka does flirt at her in his own way, where as Kagami is focused on building a strong friendship.

Hello again! Anyway, my question is when Luka came, will Marinette like him or she will still like Adrien still? And also when Kagami came, will Adrien like her or he will still stick with his crush for Marinette? I'm just curious since I DON'T LIKE MY FAVORITE SHIP BE OVER IN YOUR AU! 😥 (btw, if you said yes mari will like luka, then i can't wait for adrien's jealousy face and my life will being over :') )

It is spoiler territory, so I’ll put a READ MORE for people who don’t want it, but I’ve also said it in the past so here’s where I plan with them:

Kagami will not get a crush on Adrien and Adrien will not get a crush on Kagami, though there will be a little physical attraction because she is gorgeous and I can’t just ignore canon shoujo bubbles. This is because I want to focus on friendship for Kagami’s mini arc. 

Canon Kagami came when Adrien was feeling vulnerable and unsure about his feelings for Ladybug, opening him up to a relationship with Kagami. However, he has no doubts about loving Marinette - she is not the force keeping the apart, his busy schedule (both civilian and superhero) is preventing him from pursuing her, not because he knows she doesn’t reciprocate or because she rejects him.

And I just never understood when it was that Kagami fell for Adrien because one episode she didn’t and then suddenly she did. Not to say that Adrien is unlikable, but I like to see the inciting incident that caused that shift, since Riposte ended with Kagami wanting to meet his friend Marinette and being sure that he liked her to the point of teasing him about it. So sorry Adrigami fans but it’s not gonna happen.

Luka will get a crush on Marinette and Marinette will get a mild crush on Luka. Not enough for her to consider actual going after him over Chat Noir, but enough to leave her flustered. This is because I have a mini arc for Luka that is dependent on his feelings for Marinette.

Canon Luka also came in when Marinette was feeling vulnerable due to Adrien missing out on a lot of hangouts, like the universe telling them not to be together. And Luka was kind to her and praised her while she was in that state. And I can’t pretend that a cute older boy flattering me wouldn’t make 14 year old me explode, pre-existing crush or no.

And while it does kinda read like Luka came already liking Marinette, I can at least rationalize to myself that he probably heard a lot about her from Juleka and even if he didn’t their interactions were full of chemistry, so I’m not confused why he caught feelings. So sorry Lukanette fans but I’m basically gonna tease you a whole lot.

Does Adrien/ chat noir have any rivals in love?

Hard to say. Technically he does/did in canon? The problem is Marinette’s suitors are either short lived or non active in their pursuit. She’s had Theo (for Ladybug), Nathaniel, Nino, and now Luka. 

But AdriChat doesn’t respond well to romantic rivals. At least not in the one instance where someone was pursing the version of the hero he was in love with. So REWRITE.

First, Nino probably wouldn’t get a crush on Marinette to start with. When you know your friend is into someone, you DON’T look at them romantically (in my opinion if you’re a good person). Plus while I actually see super subtle gestures that built to it, Nino’s crush was pretty much a flash in a pan. So eliminating it wouldn’t be that hard.

With Nathaniel, he’s very secretive about his crush, to the point where I’m not sure he still has one??? It’s implied by the big X over his ‘save Marinette’ comic that he’s moved on, but it’s not like he remembered anything as Evillustrator so I’m not sure what would motivate such a thing, other than everyone knows she’s into Adrien and now that his crush is known he pretty much has no chance.

But they’re still friends. If Adrien tried to pull a Copycat and lie about him and Marinette being in a relationship, it would get back to Marinette and she DOESN’T. LIKE. LIARS. GAWD. I can see Adrien keeping an eye on him but otherwise not feeling threatened by Nathaniel. He seems to be sabotaging himself. Adrien doesn’t need to be on the defense.

Theo pretty much writes himself out. No Ladybug, no opposition. Still haven’t decided if he’ll be into Scarlet Lady or Chat Noir, but we’ll get there.

And Luka. Sweet, chill, not actually threatening Luka. He’s so relaxed and ineffectual it would actually take a while for Adrien to recognize him AS a rival. I’d probably have to write him in sooner to set him up as a genuine love rival because by then Marinette would probably be recognizing her feelings for Adrien AND Chat Noir and throwing a third in there would probably just make her swear off love altogether.

I want to write Kagami and Luka in, I really do, but their effect on the story is pretty weak and in this AU where the responsibility of superheroing and stress of catering to Scarlet Lady just to get her to do her damn job is what’s keeping them apart, not some weird I’m In Love With The Opposite Version Of You stuff, adding in two ‘Rivals’ has even less impact. These two want to be together. They just can’t figure out how to make it work.
