Jensen doesn't believe in the gods, but those around him are desperate to secure the favour of Cernunnos, putting both Jensen and the beautiful man he's rapidly developing feelings for in danger.

This was my first year participating in this particular challenge, and I threw my hat in three times. @soy-em​ was one of the folks who was drawn to an image of Sam/Jared and a deer. This evolved into a historical tale with Jared caught in the middle of Celts, Romans and a forest god. Go read it right now.

Sorry if this is glaringly obvious - Eng is not my first language and I'm autistic so I sometimes think I've understood everything perfectly and then it turns out I didn't and missed some obvious stuff. Anyway I was curious and Googled Dmitri Krushnic and the first result is Wikipedia's entry on M and it says he was born Dmitri Tippens Krushnic. Sorry if you already stated that and I missed it. Love.

Yes, I think most know he was born Dmitri Krushnic.

What surprised me was I thought he had legally changed it to Misha Collins, but that is not the case. So, legally, he is Dmitri Krushnic, but likes to use his stage name of “Misha Collins” for all public appearances.

Many fanfiction authors like to play around with slipping in his real name, oftentimes using it for the villain of the story like Lovethemwinchester’s No Better to Be Safe Than Sorry and all_the_damned_vampire’s deliciously dark Retail Therapy !verse.

From the Character Guide to In the Shadow of the Giant:

Jared’s earliest memory was of Jensen smiling at him, blond haired and forest-green eyes full of love. Born a slave, he had never known what it was like to be free. His only constant where nothing was his was Jensen - his whole world.

That world came crashing down one day, when Jensen was torn away from him forever. Bereft of the only person he ever loved, Jared was thrust into the role of a puer delicatus, used by his dominus and those his dominus wanted to curry favor with. Without Jensen and his unwavering belief in the gods, Jared struggled to find the strength and faith to carry on in a life no one wanted to live.

As he came to discover some solace in the cult of Isis, Jared saw signs and portents that revealed the gods were angry and not yet done meting out their displeasure with the excesses and faithlessness of those around him. The people cavorted and caroused without limits.

One fateful summer, it all came to a head...

Management of expectations...I won’t start posting the story until sometime later in May/June. Mabel, who is only 4, was just diagnosed with heart disease, so I am dealing with that. Her prognosis is spoken of in months, not years.
