✨ In “Aladdin”, after Jafar takes over Agrabah, Princess Jasmine is relegated to serve the evil sorcerer as his personal slave. She also watches in horror as Iago tortures her father by force feeding him crackers in retaliation for being force fed by the Sultan earlier and throughout the movie. Jasmine’s red slave outfit reminds me of Princess Leia’s slave girl outfit in “Return of the Jedi”. On Jasmine’s upper right arm is a spiral arm cuff that resembles a cobra much like Jafar’s staff. This heavily implies and reinforces the fact that Jafar is objectifying Jasmine. For instance, he proposes to have her as his queen. Disgusted, Jasmine refuses by soaking Jafar with wine.
✨Jasmine recoils in fear as an enraged Jafar threatens to physically assault her. When Jafar desires to wish for Jasmine to fall desperately in love with him, she gasps in horror at the idea. Quite similarly in “Return of the Jedi”, after Leia had been captured by Jabba the Hutt after failing to rescue Han Solo, she too is forced against her will to be chained to Jabba and dressed in a revealing slave girl outfit. While route to the sarlacc pit aboard Jabba’s sail barge, Jabba forcibly pulls Leia up to him and threatens that she would learn to appreciate him. The scene exemplifies Jabba’s desire to break Leia mentally and Leia’s fear of a live of servitude as a slave of Jabba the Hutt. ✨🐍
