Many will live slaves to sin and call it freedom
Every person in the world is by nature a slave to sin. The world, by nature, is held in sin's grip. What a shock to our complacency- that everything of us by nature belongs to sin. Our silences belong to sin, our omissions belong to sin, our talents belong to sin, our actions belong to sin. Every facet of our personalities belong to sin; it own us and dominates us. We are its servants.

You are a slave to whatever controls you..
ROMANS S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 7
Monday, 1/30/23
SCRIPTURE:
So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin. ... Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. ~ Romans 7:14; 24-25
OBSERVATION:
"The trouble is with me..." - not that I've ever said it wasn't...
"...is I am a slave to sin..." - addicted to sin?
I am a slave to disobedience and selfishness - to my will and my way instead of God's will and God's way...
It takes admitting it - like a twelve-step program - "Hello, I'm g, and I'm a slave to sin..."
But it only takes one step - one step toward Jesus - one day, one hour, one minute, one breath at a time...
Thank God indeed!
APPLICATION:
Thank God...
"Accept" the answer - Jesus...
Take the step...
PRAYER:
Loving, patient Father God - I ask forgiveness for my failure to admit my sinfulness - my small acts of disobedience, of placing what I want over what Your will would have me do... Thank You and Your holiness for Your Spirit that reminds me with each breath that Your Son Jesus came to free me from my addiction to myself and my way and my will... In His Name, and for Your praise and honor and worship...
Grateful to be yours... in Him...

A Brief Description of my track “Happy Slave”
Happy Slave depicts a tortured mind enslaved by sin. The slave is miserable in his condition, but in an attempt to mask his misery from himself and others, he makes an exaggerated, hyperbolic assertion of his happiness.
His master is Satan, the Lord of sin. The slave asserts how much he loves his master and is happy being his servant. However, his over-the-top praise of his master should raise suspicions in the listener’s mind. Perhaps the slave is secretly trying to convey his unhappiness in his situation and his desire to be freed.
I wrote this song while struggling with my own slavery to sin. Once you have cultivated sinful habits, it is very hard to break them. It is tempting to believe that you will forever be trapped in the clutches of sin. If this reality proves too difficult to swallow, one may try convincing oneself that they are happy in their condition. Of course, the idea that one could be happy without freedom is a ridiculous proposition, and I sought to convey its ridiculousness throughout the song. The slave is depicted as a clown (as seen in the cover art), and not someone one should seek to emulate.
Does regeneration precede faith? What does being a slave to sin mean? How does Jesus’ encounter with Nicodemus help us understand regeneration? How does the birth metaphor help us understand the Spirit’s work of creating new life? How then are we to understand the role of faith? In this new Credo Video, Dr. Matthew Barrett…
