Hi, just want to say love your Hardrock cosplay. My friend has talk me into doing a group cosplay of all five ronins and now I'm stuck at the moment. I was wondering what materials did you use to make your armor?
Thanks for asking! The armor I made was made out of two basic materials: the main one being craft foam. Other cosplayers I know made their armors with very thick foam pieces, but I just bought small sheets of them- the kind that you can find at hobby stores like JoAnn. I basically collected a bunch of foam sheets (the ones that are 3mm thick) and glued them together to achieve the thickness I wanted for most of the armor pieces.
The other material I used was stretchy vinyl fabric, which is glued over the foam pieces once they’ve been cut out. There are lots of different online sellers who have this type of fabric, but the one I was first recommended was spandexworld.com. That’s where I bought the majority of MY armor fabric, but you might find better deals elsewhere. :P
